Gwy's POV
I pompously rested my head on my knuckles while my elbow rested on the soft surface of the headrest of the back seat as I look up at the stiff but cold presence of the Great Alpha Devon Guillermo.
I was about half an hour like this with him after he forcefully did that stunt on my temple's gazebo.
At last, I saw a new reaction on his face.
Well... not the kind of expression I was expecting. He was still wearing that b***h-sitting face. The only difference is his arching dark and thick brow, not looking at me.
"Are you done inspecting me, Miss Priestess?" he suddenly asked. "Sorry to disappoint you, but looking at me like that won't make me melt easily." Amusement, then came into his eyes. But that poker face... still hits differently. Hmm... Sexy.
"Don't talk..." I interrupted him, still not taking my eyes off him.
His brow arched again. I saw his pupils move in my direction. I'm guessing he's caught off-guard with what I said.
Then I sighed faintly and explained, "It's better seeing you like this than hearing you talk..."
"What does that supposed to mean?" He is now facing me. Curiosity hit him hard.
"I'm just curious about one thing, Mr. Mateless Alpha..." I leaned forward and narrowed my eyes at him. I could feel my breath darting his skin. He was stiff as usual but he didn't budge. Or is he pretending to be not affected? "I've been meaning to ask you this..." I paused, "but are you attracted to me, a priestess?"
It was so sudden. A strong finger hit my forehead and made me collapse back into my seat.
"Ouch!" I held my forehead and winced. "What was that for?!"
"Just shut up and give me a peaceful ride to my pack, okay? I hate bees bugging me around when I need to stay silent." He turned to me and gave me his cold stare. His rich and thick brows formed a line. His iris glistened into a gold color, then goes back to hazelnut. "Don't mistake my actions into something trivial, Miss Priestess. You are the most unattractive werewolf I met in my entire life. So, don't worry about me. You're not my type," he declared.
I opened my mouth. Speechless. I would close it and then open it to only scoff at him. "W-what did you say?!" I scoffed again. "Oh, don't worry about that, Mr. Mateless Alpha. The feeling is very mutual! I am born Solus Lupus. So, I was never attracted to any werewolf before. Humans don't even give me enough to feel flattered at all. So, you can also relax by that fact!" I declared then snubbed him with my frowning face.
The nerve of this guy! How dare he try to humiliate me like this?!
I saw him smirk in my peripheral view. I just tried to contain my inner beast. It will put me into a pickle if I try to show him disrespect. I'm just a mere priestess. I don't have the power to fight against him.
We stayed silent for a couple of minutes. That's when he started talking.
"As I told you earlier, I just needed someone to pose as my Luna. I have no plans of finding her, but my father..." He trailed off his sentence. "He's been bugging me with this. But he threatened to take away my post if I don't find my mate. So, when I heard about a shaman around New Orleans, I quickly went to you to find my mate myself. But look what I got? The priestess herself. If only I had a mate, it would be better than betting my life on you. So, don't worry. I also hate the idea of taking you to my pack. But my situation leaves me no choice. My father wants my mate to be present later in the meeting," he explained in a long statement.
"The news is..." I looked at him while gritting my teeth. "I don't give a f**k about your problem. You should have picked another woman instead of me. I have a pretty list of mateless she-wolves around New Orleans. You should have asked!" I grumpily crossed my arms on my chest and looked away.
"Well, I chose you. Is it so hard to understand that? If I am mateless forever, then, am I not allowed to choose the Luna that I want to present to my whole pack?" he talked back.
"Have you ever heard of free will? I said I don't care and I don't accept this bullshit!" I reiterated, my voice getting loud.
He smirked at me. This time, he was the one to lean forward and got so close to me. "I reject your rejection, Miss Priestess. You don't have a say in this. You already said yes to me earlier. And it's too late to argue about that. Do you understand? You will be my Luna. End of discussion!" he strongly declared. His jaw even moved as his dark hazelnut eyes darted through me. Like he was trying to pierce my soul with them.
The only thing that made me want to ask more is this fact...
Can he see right through me? Can he read my mind? Can he already access everything about me that fast?
Does he know the truth?
I balled my fists and gulped, still not looking away from him.
"I still have a question..." I suddenly said.
"What?"
"Why me?"
Devon quickly got back to his original pose and rested his back. "I don't like repeating myself, Miss Priestess. I already told you... I chose you because I want to. And there's no other perfect candidate for this but only you. So, shut the f**k up and wait." Those words rang inside my head over and over.
Then, it slowly sunk in.
This Alpha of Black Dew Forest has chosen me to be his Luna. He chose me because fate is starting to move around us. Trying to move us closer and closer.
Because fate didn't want me to lie anymore. Inside that spiritual realm, there was the fact that I can't accept up until now...
That dark pixie didn't show me a blank face. It showed me a real face. A very recognizable face that will forever haunt me.
That face in which Alpha Devon Guillermo is destined to be mates with... is none other than...
Me.
The problem is... how can I escape this fate?
