Bonus chapter: Deadly Dates
David made sure he wore a blank face as he approached the counter in the hospital cafeteria. There was comfort in the familiar fluorescent light, but as cooking fumes overtook the antiseptic smell, his chest shrank. The sand-coloured floor and bright-yellow walls made him sick, though not as sick as the giggle coming from the nurse flirting with David’s future lover.
Until a few weeks ago, he wouldn’t have dreamed of coming here, but it took time wooing someone, and David had to make the effort. He couldn’t rely on poor Jamie to understand what was best for him. His lovers needed him, all of them, to steer them in the right direction. It was hard work, and it had its ups and downs.
