Chapter Five - Distant

Growing up, I realized that my sexuality either pulled people closer to me or it pushed them away. In this case, Zoe did the later.

It made me laugh a bit because she seemed like she was scared of me for a second and then she was totally busy for me. I mean the first week she was looking forward to showing me the ropes and actually teaching me staff but after I told her I was gay four days ago, she became too busy to even talk to me.

I didn't put much into it since I started being busy too.

My car arrived and I had to start farming on my place. So that kept me occupied, I planned on seeing Zoe after everything was sorted.

I smiled looking at the cultivated land that was in front of me. It was just amazing seeing this. I knew our parents were going to be proud of me for finally pulling this off. I have waited 10 whole years to be able to do it.

I felt a pat on my shoulder and I turned to my brother's go to guy, "hey.. You look proud.."

"you have no idea.. So when are you heading back to Johannesburg?"

"after I see something from the ground.. I promise you won't even know that I'm around. I'll just keep on checking our competition and staff.."

I smiled, "sure.. Have you seen her?"

I was talking about Zoe. Klent knew about some of the plan, I don't know how much my brother told him but I trusted him since Lucifer trusted him too.

He nodded his head. "yeah.. She's been trying to keep herself busy.."

"do you think I should visit her? I mean she's shut me out after my last visit to her place, I was just giving her time to adjust to my sexuality even though I didn't have to do that.."

He smiled, "if you have a plan.. Follow through with it. We will be watching you and making sure you're safe okay.."

I nodded my head, "thank you Klent.."

"I'll go check on the shop in town and keep my eye on it.."

"thanks... I'll come see it later today."

He nodded his head before leaving.

So My brother being my brother also bought a whole existing store in town two days ago, it was the biggest shop that delt with farming things and evething you'd just need to farm and grow your healthy crops. A shop that Zoe was a regular in. I swear he wanted this to go as smooth as possible and I was not complaining.

I smiled one more time before going back to my car and driving back to my house.

When I arrived back in my place I took my phone and headed back inside the house. I took my laptop and searched her little sister again on these social media networks. Nothing was greater than checking out someone who's life was put out there for you. Her accounts were all puclic meaning anyone could access them.

She was a student at the University of Cape Town doing her second year in physiology. A party animal and definitely a men's lady. Weird I know, but from how she was dressed and the pictures she posted. It was clear what type of a person she was.

When Lucifer and his team checked this family out they found out some of the things from the little sister. Zoe and her parents had no Internet presence at all. So Kara helped us there.

She was beautiful but not like her older sister. Zoe had this thing about her. In her presence she was oozing with dignity and confidence. You'd want to respect her without even knowing her.

Of course she was a Billionaire but she never acted like one or rubbed it on anyone's face, in fact you'd never tell by just looking at her... But you'd respect her by just looking at her.

My phone started ringing making me jump a bit. Goodness I needed to stop being so jumpy.

I put it on my ear without checking who called, "Letti here.."

'hey you.. How are you doing?'

"great and how are you Aveline?"

'good.. What have you been up to? I haven't heard from you in four days...'

I sighed, "I scared the target away.. But besides that I was just busy prepping everything and putting the crops with the guys..so now that everything is fine, I need to get back to the plan.."

She laughed a little bit, 'do you still think you stand a chance?'

"giving up on me pretty quick sister in law?" I asked laughing. I mean I didn't blame her, Zoe was a tough egg to c***k, I needed all the energy and blessings from everyone in order to get to her, worse now that she was pushing me away.

' heey you had your doubts.. Seems like you saw what was coming.'

I sighed and sat on the couch, "well a little bit I just need to make sure that she's not homophobic.. If she's not then I'll definitely go in guns blazing."

'I so love your confidence.. Go get your girl..'

"you mean woman.. She scares me sometimes."

'you'll be okay.. Can I talk to your brother about coming to see you? It's about to be a month and I miss you..'

I couldn't help the smile that formed on my face, "this is why I really love you. Just tell him you're coming please. If you ask he will say no.."

She laughed, 'he might be your brother but he is my husband.. I have other ways to convince him' she said the last part seductively.

I closed my eyes trying so hard not to think about it, "oh my God... Oh my God Aveline.. Don't ever say that, I can't think about you and my brother having sex... Does he even have sex..? Eww... Okay don't answer that. Let me go see Zoe and make sure she doesn't forget me.."

She laughed and I quickly hung up before she could say anything. My phone vibrated and I knew it was her. I opened the message.

AVELINE: You are so lucky I love you ? go get your girl.. ?Even though she's not yours.

I smiled a bit and started leaving my place. I drove to her place and parked outside the gate then walked in.

I internally played what I'd say to her in my head so that she'd feel bad for just disappearing and ignoring my calls. I mean she texted me back that she was busy two days ago and ignored my calls yesterday. So I needed to come with a legit plan on making her feel bad for that. I knew she was busy somehow but I also knew she was running away from me.

That little fella was there again playing with his 'car' brick outside. I smiled at him thinking about the games that my brother used to play when growing up.

"hey Little dude. How are you doing?"

He lifted his head up to look at me, "good.."

"I didn't get your name last time."

"Thando...it means Love.. My dad said so.."

I couldn't help but smile at him, "that's a beautiful name.. Can you help me again? Have you seen Aunt Zoe?"

He nodded his head, "yeah she went to town but she said she's busy.."

"thank you so much Thando. I'll come back later okay"

I got inside my car and drove to town. If she wasn't here then I was going to check how the shop was doing and maybe come back to Zoe later.

The drive to town wasn't as long as it usually was and I noticed that I was getting used to driving to this road and this place. It wasn't as smooth as the City Road but it was a road.

I parked outside the new shop I now owned and got out. My phone vibrated and I shook my head, whoever that was will see me after checking out the shop.

I smiled at the few customers that were walking out, "hello guys.."

They waved and went out. I got in and saw the cashier. He smiled, "hey...Letti.."

"hey Rasaq, how are you?"

"great, I love the changes you made in here.. And thank you for keeping my job."

I winked at him, "no problem.. So how are things?"

"great. We actually have.."

"Letti? That was fast.." Klent said showing up from behind me and I furrowed my brows at him, "what was?"

"I sent you a message.."

I laughed, "oh that was you? Sorry my phone is in the car and I was lazy to take it.. Is there any problem?"

He shook his head, "no, business is blooming. Your brother was not sure about the additional things you told him about but I see they are the reason why people are in and out.."

I winked at him, "let me check the place around.."

He nodded and signalled with his head that I can go on. I started going in each and every aisle making sure that everything was packed neatly. I have to say I was really proud of what they made and the difference I could see from how the store was before.

I turned around the corner and collided with someone.

"oh God I'm..." I said and stopped talking when I realized who it was.

Zoe King... The woman who was distancing herself from me.

"sorry.." I said simply and she shook her head, "it's not your fault. I'm sorry too, I wasn't looking where I was going."

I nodded my head slowly, "so how are you doing Zoe..? How have you been?"

She seemed a little bit uncomfortable, busy looking on the sides as if to see if people were looking at us, "I'm good thanks.. Just been busy.."

I smiled, "I can imagine how busy you have been. So did they work..?"

She looked at me confused and I rephrased my sentence, "what I gave you for your dead flowers. Did it work?"

"a lot thank you so much."

"so when can we meet up.. I started planting different crops and I wanted to ask you a few things."

She sighed, "umh Letti I'm a little bit busy you know. So I don't know when I'll be available for such.."

I ached my brows, "really? So this has nothing to do with me being gay.."
