Chapter Four. Tell Me Everything.
“Hi Uncle Hamish,” Zoe, the princes eldest niece shouted as she appeared out of nowhere.
“Hey, did you come with Aunty Liane?” Hamish asked about the Beta of his sister Phoenix’s pack, who was a very rare transporter wolf.
“Nope. She is busy. So, I told Samual to bring me,” Zoe grinned.
Hamish furrowed his brow slightly. Samual was the nine-year-old son of Liane and her mate Marcus, and as far as he was aware was not a transporter wolf.
“Yeah, he started to transport last week,” his eleven-year-old niece grinned up at him.
“Does your Mama and Papa know you are here?” Hamish asked, knowing that the strong-willed alpha pup would probably have failed to mention this little excursion for fear of being told ‘No’.
Zoe looked down at the floor, before raising up her chin a look of defiance on her face.
“Uncle Hamish, you told mama you needed to go to Ireland, and that you were in a hurry. Aunty Liane as busy at the Glamping site, so I did what any true, future leader of a pack would do, and took the initiative,” Zoe locked eyes with her uncle defiantly.
Hamish attempted to keep his face a stoic mask, preparing himself to chastise his strong willed niece, but the corners of his mouth grew a mind of their own, tilting upwards despite himself.
“Apresurate” Zoe shouted in Spanish to hurry her uncle up.
Normally Hamish would not entertain the idea of being transported by a 9-year-old pup. However, he was in a hurry to reach The Harvest Moon Pack, to help solve the puzzle of Ronnie’s disappearance. However, if he did this without informing his sister and Liane of what was happening, he new he would gain a swift, hard knee between the legs next time he was training with his eldest sister.
“Go wait for me in the living room. Nana and Grandad are down there, and I think Uncle Asher as well,” Hamish gently nudged the young girl out of his bedroom door.
“Don’t take too long Uncle Hamish, I am very busy,” Zoe declared.
Another smirk teetered on the Nerdy Prince’s lips, as he shook his head at her shenanigans.
“Really, and what is an 11-year-old girl really busy with?” he asked, raising an eyebrow at her.
Zoe let out a frustrated sigh, shaking her head.
“Kristofer Gilbert and his wife are at the glamping site, with their daughter Pea, and son, Johnny. If you MUST know, Catalina likes Johnny. Not that you would understand, because you are a boy, and only care about your computers and puzzles!” his niece informed him.
So, the younger of his sister’s triplets had her first crush, the object of her desires, the son of the Oscar winning actor, who had been using the Glamping Site for family holidays for years, when the family wanted to escape the ever-watchful eye of the paparazzi.
“Isn’t Catalina a little old for him?” he asked, not that he kept up with the rich and famous, but he was sure that the triplets were two to three years older than the boy.
“Age is just a number Uncle Hamish. Don’t you know anything?” Zoe huffed at him.
Hamish chuckled, and ushered Zoe out of the door once more, before picking up his mobile phone, and calling his eldest sister in Spain.
“Liane will be with you as soon as she can, Hamish. We have some paps outside the glamping site, they found out Kris and Sienna are here,” Phoenix quickly informed her youngest brother, the stress from the situation they were in, making her snappier than she would normally be.
“I understand. However. Your daughter just arrived here, with Samual, she took it upon herself to have him bring her here. I didn’t know that he had the transporter gift,” Hamish informed the Luna of the Montseny Pack just outside Barcelona.
“Yeah, it happened last week. His wolf made first contact, and although he cannot shift, the transporter gift arrived with it. However, he keeps getting lost, as he cannot control the gift. Zoe knows she is not allowed to be transported by him,” Phoenix sighed.
“I thought as much,” Hamish chuckled.
“Humm, yeah, however, we are going to be ages sorting out this mess. If you are in a real hurry, then I suppose, they need to transport back here anyway. If Samual gets ‘lost’ on his way back, and you end up in Ireland, then what can I say. However, don’t expect to get to Harvest Moon the first three attempts, and you could end up anywhere,” Phoenix warned her brother.
“I will have Mam come with us, to make sure the pups get home safely,” I tell my sister.
“Thanks Hamish. Good luck in finding Ronnie,” she added, before hanging up the phone.
Hamish let out a long sigh. Ronnie. How the hell had she gone missing for so long and they were only just finding out about it? he thought to himself.
Over the years the Royals had given the temporary pack lands for new forming packs, his father teaching the Alpha and Luna’s how to be true leaders, giving them a place to stay until they could find, or in Mars and Davina’s case retrieve their own lands. However, Harvest Moon had been the first to come to the three cottages on the outskirts of their lands, and as such they were once very close. However, time and wars had interfered with the closeness of their friendship, and so, they had not visited for years. Not because of any unpleasantness, but because they had been busy, and Mars was building up the largest pack in Ireland.
Grabbing hold of his holdall, he slung is laptop bag over his shoulder, grabbing some pens and a new lockable notebook, before descending the stairs, not quite believing he was going to allow a 9-year-old to transport him. But, in the prince’s mind, desperate times called for desperate measures, and he was already beginning to find his brain running at a million miles per hour, as he attempted to work out what could have happened to the little girl he once knew, who was as fiery and wild as her hair.
King Asher walked into the living room of his pack house, to find his father and mother giving his eldest, and if he was honest, favourite niece a good scolding.
“I want you to promise me that you will never do this again, Zoe,” his dad said to the little girl, who looked up at her grandfather, and nodded her head. Asher knew that Zoe would not take a blind bit of notice, she was far too stubborn to adhere to her grandfather's commands. He could not help but chuckle. He had known Samual had gotten his transporter gift. Liane had informed him, asking if she could train him, by brining him back and forth the Crescent Moon. He had of course agreed, and the little transporter wolf would pop in and out in the blink of an eye with his mother in tow, periodically throughout the week. Hamish had been locked away in his room, hyper focused on finding his Nemesis, so it was not something he was aware of. The king chuckled, wondering what his younger brother had thought when their niece appeared out of nowhere.
“How many times did it take you to find us this time Samual” the king asked the young boy.
Samual blushed and looked at his feet, not wanting to give the King his answer, as Zoe turned her attention to her uncle.
“He did very well. Plus, we are here, aren’t we, so what does it matter Uncle Asher?” she sassed at him.
“How many times, Samual?” Asher ignored his niece, pressing the issue.
“Fine, he took five,” Zoe sighed, giving up the information for her young friend.
Hamish chuckled as he entered the living room, however, five times was a lot, and that was to a place young Samual was used to visiting. He dreaded to think how many attempts would be made to get him to Ireland and a place he had not visited before. Still, even if it took the youngster a hundred attempts it would be still quicker than waiting for the boy’s mother to arrive.
“I called Phoenix. She said that the pups were to transport home immediately. However, if Samual got lost in Ireland, then she wouldn’t have a problem with it,” he informed everyone in the room.
“See, I told you Mama would be cool,” Zoe threw her grandparents a smug look, as Chloe lost her control over her laughter at her granddaughter’s antics. The little one had the ‘Colton’ spirit, even if she was not technically a blood relation, as Phoenix had been adopted by Chloe and Zander when only a tiny pup, not that anybody would dare to think that the former queen’s eldest daughter was anything less than her natural born children.
“Mam, I think you should make this trip with us. Ensure these two are safe,” Hamish said to his mother, now anxious to make the journey to Harvest Moon.
“Agreed,” Chloe smiled at her son.
“Right then, young Samual. We need to go here,” Chloe stated, pulling up a map on her phone and showing the young transporter wolf where they needed to be. The youngster furrowed his brow in concentration, before nodding his head.
“All abord for the magical mystery tour. Good luck,” Asher chuckled, as Hamish held onto Samual’s hand, his holdall in the other, as Zoe held the youngster’s other hand, his mother holding onto hers, forming an unbroken chain.
“Erm, I have only ever transported one person before,” Samual looked up at Chloe who nodded her head.
“I know, but you have got this. Trust me, we will get there,” she smiled at him, as they disappeared into the void, before landing on top of a snow-covered mountain, the air so thin it was difficult to breath.
“Nope, this is Mount Everest,” Hamish said, as Samual furrowed his brow in concentration once more, and they disappeared again.
After travelling around the world, on the fifty first attempt, Hamish found himself standing in the hallway of The Royal Harvest Moon pack. He let out a sigh of relief, as the door from the kitchen opened, and Beta Siobhan, rushed towards his mother, tears streaming down her face.
“Oh thank God you are here,” she whispered, her voice thick with emotion.
“Please tell me you have had a vision of where my Ronnie is?” the beta begged.
Chloe sighed and shook her head.
“I am sorry. No. Both Asher and I have attempted to have a vision, but as you remember, they only come when they come. It is like she has disappeared altogether,” Chloe sighed.
Siobhan let out a strangled cry, her body shaking as her mate, Ronan ran to his mate, holding her in his arms, his own tears freely flowing down his cheeks.
“No, she is not dead. s**t. I should have worded that better. I would have seen that. But, all I do know, for certain, is that Hamish is the one who will find her,” Chloe added, kicking herself for being so tactless.
“Chloe, is Liane here?” Luna Davina asked, as she and Alpha Mars walked into the hallway.
“Nope, we have come curtesy of Samual her eldest boy, who recently got his transporter gift and is doing very well at controlling it,” Chloe said, encouraging the boy, who had taken them all over the world before reaching the pack.
“Are you staying for a cupper?” Davina asked, as the luna hugged the former queen and long-time friend.
“No, sorry. I have important things to do with my sister,” Zoe announced, making Davina giggle.
“Hamish, you are very welcome. Max and Lucas are in the living room waiting for you,” Alpha Mars smiled at the prince.
“Zoe, remember your manners please,” Chloe gave her granddaughter a pointed look.
“Catalina has a crush on Johnny Gilbert. Kristofer Gilberts young boy, and they are at the Glamping site,” Chloe explained.
“Oh, I see, very important things to do,” Davina smiled down at Zoe then looked up at Chloe.
“I would love it if you would pop in when you have time,” Davina said, a slight plea to her voice that Hamish didn’t miss. It was clear to him this pack were worried sick about Ronnie and he needed to move quickly if he was going to track her down.
Chloe left with Zoe and Samual, as everyone gathered in the large living room of the Irish pack.
Hamish pulled out his laptop, and sat down, placing it on his knee, then looked up at his old friends.
“Tell me everything. Miss nothing out, no matter how inconsequential you think it might be,” he sternly told them.
