Chapter Eight. Tracking. “Hamish. Good to see you. Damn you have grown,” Hamish reluctantly tore his eyes away from the beautiful woman in the picture to see Sky and Ross enter the living room. The colourful Gamma wolf, was, as he always remembered her, covered in splashes of dried paint from one of her many art projects. Her dark blonde hair pinned high on her head with a couple of thin paint-encrusted brushes to secure it in place. “Anything?” Max asked Ross, the head warrior of the Harvest Moon pack. “Yeah, we caught up with him,” Ross nodded his head at the young Alpha heir. “He is now having a little chat with Dougie,” the warrior wolf added, as Max and Mars bobbed their heads in unison. Hamish resisted the urge to smile. He knew that Dougie was a highly skilled interrogator wolf. Whatever the person they had caught had done, he was in for a lot more than a ‘little chat’. “One of the teenage warrior wolves decided it would be a good idea to attempt to overpower Aunt Maria at the school and run off. Knocked her on her ass. He is having anger issues at the moment. Normally we don’t return violence with violence where the teenagers are concerned, but he has had his final warning, so he is going to spend a couple of days locked up, and being interrogated by Dougie, in a bid to show him exactly what it is like if he continues, and we have no choice but to declare him rogue,” Lucas explained to Hamish. “His mother and father are going to be pissed. But that is part, if not all, of his problem. Little Timmy could do no wrong, and was never disciplined. Ever. When we got our hormones and aggressive tendencies, we were given consequences for our actions. His never has. She would just go fight with everyone saying it wasn’t him,” Venus added. Hamish nodded his head; he was not there to judge how they saw fit in running the pack. That would be his brother’s job, but Asher was well aware that Mars and his leadership were fully trained by his father, and so they had the complete trust of the royals. “We were just getting Hamish up to speed with the Ronnie situation,” Mars informed Ross, effectively ending the conversation about the challenging family they had inherited from the old Shadow Moon pack, when they decided not to stay with his cousin, after they had won the war to reclaim their pack lands all those years ago. “Did you go and track her at all?” Hamish directed his full attention back to Ross, who he knew was a highly skilled tracker wolf. “I went with Ronan to the Shifter Bar. He got nowhere when asking questions about Ronnie. I attempted to capture a scent to trace her, but after 18 months, with so many werewolves in and out of that place, it was impossible to find any trace, not even a tiny one,” Ross informed the prince. “What about the girl she was with, Liza?” Hamish inquired. “I didn’t have a scent of her to go off, so nothing. Ronan did ask about her, but again nobody knew anything,” Ross sighed. “Well, I think they may have known but were not going to tell me. I may be a beta now, but I am still an omega. There was no way they were going to give me information about anybody. No matter what I attempted to say or do,” Ronan sighed, running his hand through his hair, which had prematurely begun to grey at the temples. It was not due to his age, as werewolves lived for hundreds of years, and he still looked like a relatively young man of around 30 years old, despite being well over a 100. Hamish could only surmise the grey streaks were the result of stress and worry about the loss of his daughter. “We did employ the services of a private Investigator in America, to attempt to track Ronnie there. He is human, a former Massachusetts State Trooper. However, he didn’t turn up anything. Something felt off about him, and Siobhan did some deep diving into the cop from Canton. She realized he had left the service in less than favourable circumstances. Let’s just say, it is widely believed he was part of a massive police cover-up a few years ago. So, we sacked him immediately,” Mars informed Hamish. “Do you think he is part of the C.U.N.T.S?” Hamish asked. “The what now?” Davina turned to Hamish, wide-eyed. “Yeah, that is what Mam nicknamed the Costa Lobo, RFW and Human Against the Beasts, merged groups,” Hamish nodded his head, as the Luna of the pack began to giggle behind her hand. “Trust Chloe,” she continued, as Siobhan for the first time smiled, and everyone else began to laugh. The giggling at the name for their joint enemies soon turned to hysterical laughter. Hamish offered little more than an upturn of his lips, understanding that this was as much an emotional outpouring as the tears earlier had been. “Prince Hamish. Can I show you to your rooms?” Stephen the Harvest Moon’s head omega stepped into the living room and asked. Hamish nodded his head, he felt like he could do with some time alone, to process the information, work through it all, and give his highly functioning brain a break, so that he could work out what the best next steps were for him to take. “Yes, actually that would be great, I can set up my base there,” Hamish smiled and nodded his head. “I have given you the best guest suite in the house,” Stephen proudly told him. “No need for that, I am just Hamish, Max and Luca’s old friend,” the prince informed the Omega, not wanting the ‘Royal’ title to make anybody in this pack feel uncomfortable. “Well, Stephen has sorted them now anyway. Plus, you don’t get the best because you are a prince. But because you are one of my friend’s sons,” Davina told him with a pointed look. “Fair enough,” Hamish smiled at her, then remembered his manners and thanked the Luna and Head Omega, before standing to his feet, and placing his laptop back into its bag, before grabbing his holdall. “Do you need the password for the Wi-Fi. Or would you prefer the land connection?” Siobhan asked, looking at the prince. “No need, I hacked your Wi-Fi before we started. Plus, I will be working predominantly offline. However, I will plug into the land connection when I need to access my other computers at Crescent Moon,” Hamish gave Siobhan a cheeky grin, as she shook her head at him with a smile. “You know, I do like to think I helped you become this computer genius. After all, you used to watch me work, for a couple of weeks when a pup, but then got better at it all than I did, even though you were only six years old,” the beta wolf smiled. “Aunt Siobhan, you certainly did,” Hamish grinned at her, remembering a time he would randomly arrive at her doorstep with a laptop and insist on her teaching him something new on the computer. “Yeah, Ronnie was the same, she knew more than you within weeks of you teaching her how to do basic coding,” Ronan sighed, tears forming in his eyes once more. “Well, I believe that was because she would follow Hamish around like a lost puppy when he visited,” Siobhan gave a sad smile, remembering the good old days, when her pups were small, and the only worries she had about the three of them was how much fighting her little Crayon twins would embark on during the day. “Hiya, we just popped in for that cupper,” Chloe’s voice echoed around the Harvest Moon Pack house. Hamish couldn’t help but sigh. As much as he loved his mother, he knew that to escape to the suite that Stephen had prepared for him would no longer be possible. He noted that he hadn’t seen her for nearly a week, after getting drawn in to investigating a big pharmaceutical corporation in America that looked to have links to the Russians, then going through every student record he could access for the years prior to his Nemesis’s arrival on his computer. “I will go up and see the suite later. Sorry,” he offered a soft smile to Stephen, who chuckled slightly, giving him a knowing nod. He remembered all too well, how the prince had loved to escape the hive of activity around the pack when he was a pup. “Chloe, we are just in here,” Davina shouted, then glanced at Stephen and gave him a sheepish smile. “Tea and cakes?” the head omega asked. “Actually, let me help,” Ronan sighed, longing to go back into the kitchen. He had once been the pack’s head Omega, before being given the Beta position, years before, and he loved nothing more than to head back into the kitchen and bake his much sort after cakes, doughnuts and waffles, as a way to help settle his mind, and distract him from what was happening to his beloved daughter. “Hi Liane. Did you get the pap’s sorted?” Hamish asked Samuel’s mother. “Yeah, eventually, they are annoying parasites. I honestly don’t know how Kris and Sienna cope with it,” the transporter wolf sighed. “So how long did it take you to get to Montseny when you left me here, Mam?” Hamish asked. He was not one for small talk, but he was genuinely interested about how well the young pup had done. Plus, one day he was determined to work out the mysteries of the Transporter wolves, to figure out if there was something that triggered the gift, and if more of them could become available. However, that was for another day, a day when he had found his nemesis and dismantled the C.U.N.T.S dodgy business dealings, and political ambitions. “Another thirty-seven times,” Chloe giggled, as Liane smiled. “That isn’t bad, considering he was shifting more than one person, and had never been here before,” Liane instantly defended her young son, as Davina ushered the former Queen and transporter wolf to a seat. “End up anywhere interesting?” Hamish asked, again just for something to say to his mother, knowing that she would have probably missed him the past week. “Well, we kind of ended up on the roof of the president of America’s Motorcade, we got off there as quick as a flash, so I am hopeful nobody caught us. But I kind of see us on the news tonight. I guess we need to call William and Jayne, have them inform their contacts in the US government; to let them know it was not a threat. However, I guess Alpha and Luna Gude will be visiting Wet Wang pack within a day or two anyway,” Chloe grinned at her son. “Oh, because Hannah and Del are back from honeymoon?” he asked about his cousin and her American mate, who was Alpha of the Yorkshire pack. “Yeah, and because Hannah went into heat, so we all know what that means,” Chloe grinned. “Oh wonderful. Has it been confirmed?” Davina asked, genuinely happy for Chloe’s niece, who she had known as a pup. Well, kid, as Hannah had been born human, and had remained as such until her human life ended, and her werewolf life began. “Not officially. But I see her with a pup in her arms,” Chloe said, with a smile. “Dad will probably not be overly happy,” Hamish said to his mother, who gave him a sheepish look. “This time it actually wasn’t my fault, and I hope he isn’t.” she giggled, as everyone chuckled at her, knowing the former queen loved nothing more than to have her mate punish her misdeeds in their bedroom. “Please, Chloe. For the love of all that is holy, do not tell us what you hope Zander does to you,” Mars muttered. “Yeah, Aunty Sonia’s tales of her life with Dougie, is about as much oversharing as we can take,” Max shuddered. “Does she still do that?” Chloe asked, taking the cup of tea from Stephen. “Damn right she does. Seriously, she has no filter,” the head omega said with a smirk. “So, what is your plan of action to find Ronnie?” Chloe asked her youngest son, knowing that he would already have something in his head to work out where she could be. “I have not decided yet. I need to look through all the information I have gotten today, and once this tea party is over, I need to head to see Reggie before making any firm decision,” the prince informed her. “Reggie had become a hermit, he never comes here now, preferring the small cottage on the southern border. He will not see anybody. I feel like I have lost both my twins,” Siobhan sighed. The queen caught up with her friends, chatting for over an hour, before looking at her son, feeling his anxiousness to continue with his task of finding Ronnie, coming off him in waves. She realised that her youngest boy had hit his limit of small talk and was anxious to get on with the task at hand. “I will leave you to do your investigations. I know you will have a lot more questions.” Hamish nodded his head. “Sorry Mam, I love you, and will see you soon,” the prince told his mother, wanting to continue with his investigation. In his opinion, they had wasted too much time on catching up and small talk. “Okay son. You do you,” the queen smiled, before turning to Siobhan and Ronan. “I am sorry I cannot see Ronnie in my visions. But one thing I know for certain. Hamish is going to find her and bring her home. Trust me,” Chloe stated, before placing her empty cup down, and taking Liane’s hand in hers, and the pair disappeared into thin air.
