Chapter 7Jesse and Patrick pulled into the back lot of the local occult bookstore. After having some pie and coffee at Jesse’s place as he shared his research, Patrick had suggested the Blue Moon store. “Not the most sophisticated place,” he said as they parked. “But I like the woman who runs it. Minnie Vanders is her name. I did an audit here a few years back and was really impressed with the way she kept the books. I know it might not mean much—”
“No, I can appreciate detailed record keeping,” Jesse said. His face flushed with the ridiculous remark. Record keeping? Really? That’s what he wanted to compliment? He shook his head and tried to focus on the ornate storefront as they walked around to the front.
