Chapter One
HAHAHA.
I laugh while I slide around the floor in the woman's blood. She is in my torture chamber under my older brothers' club. She was caught stealing from the register so she is not going to die for her actions but punished. I don't nick any major arteries, but I just know where I can cut to make it hurt and bleed….
“I am so sorry!”
I walk in front of her and use the scalpel to lift up her chin.
“Are you sticking to your reason?”
Her head slumps back down to her chest. She looks defeated and like she got her punishment.
“I needed the money! I was going to end up on the streets!”
I smirk.
She is a very beautiful and healthy girl, her hair is thick and gold, her breasts and ass are round and plump.
“You could have talked to my brother, he could have put you on the stage in one of his other clubs or even found some work for you on the side”
My words come out sick and twisted but I just keep my smirk. A visible shiver runs over her body and I know she is disgusted by my suggestion. I smack my lips and tisk at her. We are not completely heartless. Someone comes to us every week and we always give them options. Stealing and betraying us is never one of them and should never be considered.
I walk over to my station and pick up a towel and wipe my hands and face.
“You have a shift in three hours, I suggest you go see Finnick and then get some sleep before you have to be back here with a smile on your face.”
I walk out of the chamber leaving the door open so someone else can let her loose from the chair and help her to Finnick. Our doctor.
I look at my back at my watch, the notification pinging. Family dinner in one hour.
Fuck.
I jump in the shower at the club, watching the shower floor run red and I just get mesmerized watching it drain down. Putting my wet black hair up in a bun and putting on some yoga pants and hoodie, I jump out of the back door and into my sleek black car. I speed down the streets, my family has the police in their pocket pockets, so I don't worry about the cameras. Or we have the police on this side of the river on our payroll. My hands clench around the steering wheel. Those focking Morris’s. My family's mortal enemies. If I could, I would kill every single one of them tonight but I know the war would be too much bloodshed.
Or that is what my father says.
I will not mourn them.
I park my car in the long driveway and run up the stairs. The door is opened by one of the maid staff. I run past them and through the house, into the dining room. I fist my hands, both my brothers are already here and my father at the head of the table. I grind my teeth. My father has some woman on his lap. She is the same age as me! I hate it when he does this. I walk straight over to him, he quickly moves the women out of his lap, smiling up at me.
“There is my angel! I thought you were not coming since you were not here for drinks”
I move my eyes away from him to the woman standing by his chair.
“Leave” I growl out.
She runs out of the room. I move my eyes back to him, he meets my gaze, holding it. The tension is high but I just smile and lean down kissing his cheek.
“Hi, daddy”
I walk to the other end of the table sitting opposite him. My older brother Peter is on his right side and my younger brother Skye is on his left. My mother died in retaliation one night six years ago. Since then my father has had affairs but never anything that last longer than a few months. She was the love of his life. Skye looks the most like her and he has her light attitude and sensitive heart. The total opposite of my older brother. He is cold like steel. He is ruthless and cold hearted towards those that are not in his close circle.
“I got held up”
I give Peter a look and he just nods. My father noticed the little interaction and looked towards me, something in his eyes. A second later a drink is brought in for me and father looks at Skye.
“How is the new casino coming along?”
My eyes land on Skye, he is the youngest, the baby and just the heart of this family. We try to keep him out of all the dark s**t we have going on. Parker has his hands full running the clubs and bringing in shipments. I keep everyone in line and make sure everything is running smoothly. While my father is the head watches over all the paperwork and keeping the police off our asses. But Skye. He is legit. The only thing he could be put away for is being in the same family as us. He knows everything but his hands are clean and I will keep it that way.
“It is not running as smoothly as I would like but that is always the case with new businesses but I will make sure it meets its requirements.”
“What are the issues?” Peter asks.
His voice is so cold and just sounds so malice that it used to run a shiver down my spine even as his sister. Skye looks at him, he would walk on hot coles to please him.
“Nothing I can’t handle,” he answers quickly.
I smile at him, good. He needs to do this on his own, that is why we gave him this assignment. Parker just nods and looks towards me but before he could ask me something food arrives. People come walking in holding our plates and put them in front of us. We are filthy rich so if Skye’s casino goes under we will not be harmed. I have an apartment in the city but I usually just use my room here in the west wing. Parker lives in his own house while Skye lives here in the east wing, our father in the middle. The food is chicken with some mashed potatoes and asparagus. I pick up my fork and knife. We eat in silence.
“Alright I guess there is no reason to keep putting it off, I have some news about the filth living on the other side” father says after wiping his mouth clean.
We all tense up. He looks us all in the eyes.
“Early this morning, they were all found dead in their beds”
Both my brother's eyes land on me.
“The police have no witnesses and there security is wiped, my guys can’t even get it back”
Parker's eyes narrow still staring at me but I just roll the tension out of my body and keep my body slack while looking at father.
“They are thinking of bringing in some FBI or something if they don't find someone to put the blame on. This will put some serious heat on us, both with the police and with the family business.”
I stand up and walk over to the window, I light myself a cigarette and slowly bath in the victory that those Morris scum are worm food and the angry eyes the men are giving me.
“Norah?”
I look away from the night sky and in my fathers curious eyes.
“Something you wish to share with your brothers and me?”
A wicked smile pulls on my lips and worried wrinkles his forehead.
“No, I had nothing to do with this but if I find that person I sure as hell are giving them the fock of their lives” I giggle.
Tension eases out of my fathers shoulders and he looks away from me but Parker and Skye do not.
“You said you had some personal business to take care of last night so you could not do a job for me. What were you doing?” Parker asks.
His question has some merit to it, I did say I could not work that night but…
He knows I can’t lie to father, I would never lie to him. The fact that he is even asking after I gave my answer is insulting. Anger bubbles up in me.
“Personal business” I spit at him.
His eyes narrow and I can see his anger rising. I am trained in almost every single martial art there is, I am strong and I am quick. He is big and also trained in some martial arts, we have never gone all out in a fight so we don't know who would win but by the way he is looking at me, I would not say no.
“Did you kill them?”
I squish the burning end of my cigarette between my fingers, loving the shiver the burn sends through my body. I take a step towards them.
“No”
