"Second Day: Welcome to the Asylum!"
I blinked. I am inside this world again. Yes, this is a world I am very unwilling to enter in but one that I have to live in. What can I do but get used to it starting now? I already resolved to myself that no matter what happens, I would let this character survive.
"Yeah, that's how you should think," a voice said.
My eyes widened. Now, I am Ygritte. By that, I am now occupying her body and mind in this virtual world, but why did I hear that male voice and why does it sound familiar? It sounds like... my hand automatically lifted to cover my mouth when I realized whose voice that is.
"Do you hate me so much that you react like that upon hearing my voice?" he said again.
Atty. Harris! I swallowed hard. My most hated man in the world is here, too?
"Most hated man? Wow, what have I ever done to deserve your hate?" he said again.
I frowned. Why can he read my mind? These words are not verbalized but thought of. How come he can see them? How come he can guess accurately what I am thinking?
"I'm not guessing. I am literally listening to what you are saying. Whatever you think, I can hear and see it because I am also occupying the same mind, the same brain."
I frowned. What is this man talking about?
"It's difficult to understand but Ygritte's mind is occupied by both of us. The difference is that you can control her body, too. I can do that but only to a certain extent. You have control over most of her movement. I can access her mind through the computer that I am operating now."
Ah, what an explanation! So this is the division of our roles. I nodded. I am beginning to understand now.
"Today, you will face one kind of enemy. Facing that could add to your stature and strength in this world. You will be able to absorb the energy of every enemy you kill. Gather as much energy as you can. You need that in the next level you will be in."
With that instruction from the system, I prepared. So this is a time to fight. What would I do? I am not good at this. In real life, I am physically weak as well. I am not that strong, objectively speaking. That's why I wondered why I was the one chosen to be sent here.
"You don't need to be strong. You just need to use Ygritte's body to fight," Harris said again.
I flinched. Aww! Yeah, I am occupying her body, not mine. That means that I can access her strengths here. She will perform. I will direct. I smiled at that.
"Now, you get it!" Harris said again.
I feel insulted. So what?
"Hahaha! I never thought you're this cute when you feel annoyed. You look cute inside Ygritte's body for sure."
I bit my lower lip. See how he behaves? That's why I hate this man!
I looked around as I realized that the place suddenly turned into a misty one. All of a sudden, I can see some movements but I can't make out what they are since I cannot see clearly. I took one arrow and placed it on the bow. I have to be ready at least. I need to survive this phase.
I can see the other players preparing to fight the enemies, too. Like me, they are prepared for this unseen enemy. I can hear some movements but I cannot recognize what it is. Wait, why do I feel an eerie feeling deep inside me? I frowned. I know this. It is my intuition and it works every time. Something deep inside me is saying that I should move backward. I did. I walked backward but prepared nonetheless.
Raaaauuuughhhh! Raaaauuuughhhh!
I frowned. Gosh! What's this sound like?
"That's a zombie sound," Harris said.
What? A zombie? I snickered. Is this a joke? We will face zombies in this asylum? I have watched movies like this and they come in groups. What a funny thing that I would be in the same situation one day, at least in the virtual world. How can I survive this?
"Move on the right and go up that elevated place," Harry said.
I looked to the right and saw that indeed, there is an elevated place. But why would I do that? I frowned. I cannot see the logic behind his point.
"It's practical. There's no need for a legal basis for that," Harris answered.
I bit my lower lip hard. If only I am facing this guy right now, I would hit him. He keeps on hurling insults at me.
"Make it fast before the enemies come!"
I shook my head, let out a sigh, and then jumped on the elevated place. Wait, did I just jump that elevation with one movement? That's amazing! Ygritte has an amazing skill.
Ahhhh!
My eyes were automatically fixed in front of me. I can see some zombies walking towards us all. Some of my companions are fighting fiercely. Well, I pulled my arrow and hit one. I can't believe my eyes when the arrow hit one. Wow, this body I am occupying is so talented. One more. I pulled one again and did the same. I continuously did what I had to do and I was able to hit the enemies from afar. Without getting near them, I can beat them. Also, I am now beginning to understand how important this elevated place is. I can see things clearly and I can move freely without being reached by these creatures. I smiled and happily did what I did. I was just hitting enemies from a safe place. What a sure win!
I smiled. This feels good, more than I expected. I am enjoying "punishing" these creatures that are so brainless and heartless, just like the criminals in the real world.
Just then, I saw a lot of zombies swarming their way inside the asylum. The others cannot surely see them but I can since I am on the elevated part of the building.
I have to warn the others.
"More are coming!" I shouted as loud as I can but I think only a few can hear since many are focused on fighting these enemies.
Then how will I survive this? I purposely asked Harris.
"Ygritte can move fast. I can activate her from my end. All you need to do is navigate her body to different positions. Face the east if I say so, the west, and so on. Put the arrow on her hand and move left and right."
