Chapter 3: A Village of Fools Their next stop was a peculiar village nestled in the Shadow Valley. The villagers, all dressed in matching red robes, greeted them with exaggerated bows. “Welcome, travelers! Have you come to witness the Great Turnip?” “The what now?” Shu asked, baffled. The villagers led them to the town square, where a massive golden turnip sat on a pedestal. It sparkled unnaturally, radiating spiritual energy. “This sacred relic grants blessings to those who honor it,” the elder proclaimed. “Bow before the Great Turnip!” Lian Hua rolled her eyes. “This is ridiculous.” Wen Zhao, however, was intrigued. “Fascinating! It’s likely infused with ancient cultivation energy. But why a turnip?” Shu, meanwhile, couldn’t resist poking the turnip. The moment he did, the ground trembled, and the turnip transformed into a massive spirit beast. “You really need to stop touching things,” Lian Hua hissed, drawing her sword. The “Great Turnip” turned out to be a spirit guardian, testing the worthiness of anyone who approached it. Despite Shu’s clumsiness, his unpredictable powers saved the day when a misfired energy burst created a slippery puddle that sent the beast tumbling. The villagers declared Shu their new “Turnip King,” much to Lian Hua’s dismay. “Please don’t add that to your title,” she begged as they left. --- Chapter 4: The Stormforge The trio finally reached the Stormforge Mountains, a treacherous range known for its unpredictable weather. Master Tian had told them that the Stormforge housed the Lightning Codex, a powerful artifact essential for Shu’s growth. As they climbed, lightning struck dangerously close. Wen Zhao, who was oddly immune to panic, pulled out a metallic umbrella. “Isn’t that dangerous?” Shu asked nervously. “Absolutely,” Wen Zhao replied cheerfully. Halfway up, they encountered a tribe of Stormcallers, cultivators who could harness lightning. The tribe’s leader, an elderly woman crackling with energy, challenged Shu to prove his worth. “Only the chosen can claim the Codex,” she declared, summoning a storm. Shu panicked, unsure how to respond. His rune glowed, and in an unexpected twist, it began absorbing the lightning strikes. The energy coursed through him, and for once, his powers didn’t go haywire. “Impressive,” the leader said, nodding. “The Codex recognizes you. You may proceed.” Shu grinned, though his hair was now standing on end from the static. -end of chapter 3-4
