Ruth is watching tv when Lucea arrives at the house.
"Where is mom and dad?" Lucea asks her.
"I think they have gone to their room." Ruth turns fully toward Lucea. "Are you dating Roderic? I know he was lying that day when he announced you as his new girlfriend, but the rumors won't go away. Are you two dating now?"
"Ruth, don't tell me you are still fantasizing about Roderic. He is too old for you!"
"Oh, I see you are now his girlfriend. No need to ask you further. But no, I am no longer interested in him. It is clear to everyone that he has his eyes set on you. I would be foolish to continue pursuing him." She turns back to the television.
