Amy stared delightedly at the two new pairs of Louis Vuitton heels her dad bought for her. She had a soft spot for beautiful shoes from when she was little, there was no denying that.
After trying them on, Amy sent pictures of them to Mandy, who started gushing over how beautiful they were. She wasted no time in adding them to her collection of shoes before heading downstairs for breakfast.
Just as she was about starting her way down the stairs, Henry came out of his bedroom all clean.
“Now, look who’s famished” Henry teased with a raised eyebrow. He expected her to already be in the dinning room waiting for him.
Amy ignored her dad’s comment and engulfed him in a warm hug.
“I knew you’d like them” He chuckled, placing a kiss on her head.
“Thanks dad. I love you”
“I love you too, princess. Now let’s go have breakfast, I’m starving”
Henry couldn’t hide his surprise when he saw the dinning table filled with complete breakfast. This wasn’t his doing because he barely eats in the morning. He was more of a lunch and dinner person, his maids ought to know that.
“I asked the maids to prepare a complete breakfast” Amy said, getting his attention.
She could tell her dad was already wondering why the maids made this much for breakfast when he eats little in the morning.
“I was told you barely ate during my absence… I wanted you to have a proper meal.” She explained, taking her dad’s arm and guiding him to his seat. She placed a napkin on his lap before making herself comfortable on her own chair.
The maids immediately served them breakfast and left the dinning room. Henry and his daughter talked about anything and everything while Amy occasionally fed her dad between their conversations.
After breakfast, Henry went into his study to make an important conference call in regards to his company’s branch in Spain that was having a bit of an issue. Amy on the other hand retired to her bedroom to finally unpack her suitcase.
While at it, she couldn’t help but wonder why Bryan wasn’t back from his morning run. It was unusual of him not to join them for breakfast. Maybe, he ran into an old friend, she concluded, not wanting to harbor any negative thoughts. But just to make sure, she sent him a quick text.
‘Where are you?’
In a matter of seconds, she got a reply.
‘Just got back’
She sighed in relief and unpacked the rest of her suitcase.
When Amy was done unpacking her suitcase, she gave her mom a call.
“Hello honey.” Paula greeted from the other end.
“Hey Mom. How’s Carl?”
“He misses you already.”
“Aww! I miss him too. Is he with you?” Amy asked with the intention of speaking with her brother.
“No. He’s with his dad. They went out to the park… Thanks honey, for the presents.” Paula replied.
“It was nothing, mom.”
“How’s Henry?... I’m sure he was devastated by your absence.” Paula asked in concern.
“He was. But, we’re good now.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. We already had that conversation.” Amy told her mom.
“So soon?... And what did he say?” Paula was a bit surprised that Henry would give in so easily, considering how stubborn he was. Well, when it comes to Amy, she guess rules can be broken.
“Dad is okay with me going to college next year. Although, I’d have to study business administration and all of that…”
“Oh honey! Are you sure that’s what you want?” Paula asked to make sure her daughter didn’t compromise her life’s decision because of the love she has for her father.
“Yes mom. The truth is… I was scared of taking over dad’s company at a young age, that’s why I wanted to study something else. It was like I wanted to run away from such a heavy burden, but I get dad now.” Amy finally expressed to her mom how she felt.
“That’s good news, then. I’m glad you two understand each other so well, unlike some of us.”
“I love you mom” Amy laughed.
“I love you too honey, but I have to go study a case I’ll be having in two days. Call you later.” Paula said.
“Bye mom” Amy replied and hung up.
