Chapter 12 The pavement felt harder and the sun blazed hotter after a week and a half of floors beneath her feet and a roof over her head. Aaron and Nick trudged along behind as Lareina retraced her steps from the grocery trip. “Where do you guys want to go after Austin?” Nick’s voice crashed through her thoughts. “There is absolutely no reason to go west, unless you want to get caught up in the water wars,” Aaron reported. “I guess I’ll keep going north to Dallas.
