It was raining heavily the day I found Leonard. She was stuck in between an old truck which had seen better days. I was running home that day from the market where I had gone to buy some fruits for my grandma. I shielded my hair with an old straw hat I had found on the road trying to keep the rain from my eyes at the same time. As I ran past the old truck, I heard a deep guttural groaning and whimpering, I thought it was the strong wind playing in my ears, so I increased my pace. The noise came again, this time around it was stronger and closer accompanied by a weak bark. I stopped halfway, listening carefully to know where the sound was coming from. Above me, the heavens continued to pour down angrily. I squinted my eyes in the semi-darkness trying to follow the sound of the whimpering.
