Maizah has been more than happy lately; Tarid kept his promise to take Maizah to the underground lake occasionally, so she no longer stares into space without having anything to do.
Meanwhile, the days seem to be going a little faster for Rebecca. She thought by now she would have figured out how to reclaim sole ownership of the company, but without knowing how much Maizah knows, she's in a dark hole that she ideally dug by herself.
Rebecca is standing by the window in her office with Amare by her side; they are both watching Maizah happily running around the garden.
"Whatever you're doing with that girl is working; she's blinded by it."Says Rebecca, experiencing both annoyance and amusement
"But I didn't do anything," Amare replies, confusion is evident on his face. Since his mother told him to keep Maizah happy, he has been doing the opposite.
"She seems 'Happy?' keep her that way." Says Rebecca, letting out an exaggerated sigh.
Amare looks at Maizah, who's happily chasing a butterfly. "What do you mean 'keep her that way'? She's already happy without my help; who's making her happy?" He asks, furrowing his eyebrows.
"I don't know, just keep her busy."
"With what?"
"Do you want me to teach you how to satisfy a woman in bed?"
"So you're telling me to have s*x with her?"
"Yes, what do you think? Taking her to shop? Wait, that sounds like a great plan. Take her shopping, show her the city, take her to the beach, and make sure she gets attacked by a shark while she's there."
Amare quickly turns around to face his mother, "I'm failing to understand your last option. What do you mean?" He asks, hoping his mother didn't just hint at him to kill Maizah.
"Does everything have to be explained by me in this house? I should have wedded the farm girl with your sister; at least sometimes, she uses her mind."
"Zendaya isn't interested in women."
"Do I look like I care?"
"You never did."
"You're an artist, right? Draw her like one of your French girls; you usually disappear for months while trying to find inspiration, then use her as an inspiration."
"I only create art that speaks to me, that resonates from within. I don't draw mere nudity. What do you take me for?"
"I didn't say anything about nudity, but since we are now talking about it. Impregnate that woman; at least a child will keep her busy."
Amare stares at his mother in pure shock. "What! You know, the more you open your mouth, the more... You know what? I'm too sober for this shit." He replies, taking out the lid of the crystal decanter and pouring a glass of Whiskey. He drinks the entire glass in one go and then pours himself another one.
"Just know, the more you mess around and drink like the alcohol will disappear tomorrow, the more we lose our chances to tame that girl."
"You already tamed her when you forced me to marry her. She can't do anything. Besides, he's gentle as a lamb; have you seen her?" He asks, smiling at the glass in his hand.
"I can't trust a wolf in sheep's clothing. Do you think I should give her appetite suppressants and ensure that she eats an unbalanced diet to the point where she can't even move her legs, let alone her finger?"
Amare gasps. "No!"
"What do you mean no?"
"I won't allow you to do that to her."
Rebecca rolls her eyes, thinking about Fatima's gibberish. "Are you love sick or what?" she sneers
"I'm just being a human. Don't you have a conscience or what?" He asks.
"Trust me, you won't be saying that when that girl takes everything we own."
"It's not like the house is in her name. Is it?"
"Of course not, but how can we be able to maintain it if we lose that company? We won't be able to pay even one employee."
"Why are you worried about one company? Everyone in this house has multiple sources of income. Zendaya has her modeling career and is also working somewhere else. Then there's Dad, who, despite being retired, is still doing facial wash commercials and has enough money, considering his age. And finally, there's you - a media personality, socialite, producer, and businesswoman who has been featured in many shows. So, what more do you want?"
Amare can't help but ask his mother; it's not even her inheritance; the only people who should be fighting for it are his aunt Fatima and his dad Ola since it rightfully belongs to them and not her.
At the same time, it's fantastic knowing his mother's obsession.
"You are supposed to be also worried about me. It's our family business. Besides, it's not like you have any source of income. I will give you some shares when we get the company back." Says Rebecca, waving her hand.
"Just in case you never noticed, I work for myself."
Rebecca scoffs and rolls her eyes, "Please. Don't tell me about your art that sells once every six years." She answers casually, admiring her custom-made diamond bracelet, but seeing that it doesn't match well with her wedding ring, she takes it out and tries another one.
Amare chuckles, "At least the money is worth the wait; I don't have to fight for inheritance; I just display my art and let them fight for how much they want to give me for it." he replies proudly.
Rebecca stares at his proud smile. "If you didn't come from this family, you would have made it where you are? You may be a known artist today, but you only get there because of your background and the connections Hakim made for you while you were struggling to sell even a small portrait of a bird with uneven legs and drinking yourself to death. If it weren't for this family, you wouldn't be where you are. Don't you ever forget that!." She spits, wiping off that proud smile.
"How could I when you always remind me?" Amare responds, "I wouldn't have chosen the Jackson last name if I had the choice." he adds in his mind while frowning.
Like a proud, evil mother, Rebecca smiles as she sees a frown on her son's face.
She continues trying out different bracelets. Despite ordering the bracelets to her specifications, she doesn't like them at all.
"While we are still on this topic, I have an auction to attend in three months; three of my pieces are being auctioned," Amare says, a smile forming again on his face.
Rebecca scowls, tossing the small boxes away from her. "Okay, fine. I will tell your sister to go with you. We need to show a united front."
Amare shakes his head, "No, I'm just letting you know that I won't be in the office, so please ensure everything goes well while I'm away. I will leave a few days earlier for the auction, so I can't take Zendaya with me; I will be occupied most of the time. Besides, no enemies are allowed to watch me suffer from success." Amare replies, smiling widely as he sees his mother's shocked expression.
"Zendaya is your sister, not your enemy."
"Tomayto-tomahto," Amare replies casually, shrugging since he sees no difference between sister and enemy.
Rebecca glares at him but decides not to press the matter. She knows his son too well; when he's not planning on doing something, then he's not doing it, so there's no point in fighting with him; he has already made up his mind.
"I have already devised a plan. That girl is an uneducated farm girl who dropped out young. Therefore, if I present her with a set of shuffled documents, including those containing the changes in succession, and tell her to sign everything, she won't even notice."
Amare quickly answers, "That's illegal."
Rebecca stares at him. "How will she know?"
Amare doesn't answer, and Rebecca asks again. "Who's going to tell her?"
"How do you know she can't read?"Amare asks
Rebecca laughs dryly, "Please don't joke around; she only knows how to increase chicken egg fertility and nothing else."
Amare laughs hysterically but knows his mother's plan could backfire if the young woman knows how to read. And what will happen if she finds out that she owns the Jackson inc and they hid it from her?
The best way is to tell Maizah the mistake that Hakim had made and ask her nicely to
sign the agreement form to change the ownership of the Jackson Inc. company without fighting or manipulating her.
Maizah is an understanding and kind-hearted woman; she is not greedy, and she already feels indebted to Hakim; the only thing that will set her heart free is to make his loved ones happy by giving them what belongs to them but how will she know what to do to do the right thing if they are sneaking behind her back?
