VALERIE “What the hell are you doing here?” I turned around at the harsh voice and saw Caleb standing at the top of the stairs. Behind him, was his brother, Hunter, almost panting. Even the sheen of sweat over Caleb’s forehead did not go unnoticed. “Caleb. I was…I mean…” Fumbling to get the right words out, I looked between him and the entrance of the basement.
