She ran a hand through her hair and threw her bangs to the other side and again I inhaled the sweet scent of roses and caramel. That left me confused along with the beating of my heart...

Kristian was getting out of his ex's car like it was the most normal thing in the world and I didn't understand why he hadn't warned me, or Sarah, or any other member of the pack so we could go get him instead of just showing up here with his ex and make me wonder if maybe, they were together again and with that I... 

... I just thought...

"You CAN'T BE my mate!!!"

Such words slipped out of my mouth even before I could note the consequence of them... Now, I was sitting in one of the armchairs in the living room with my friends, my maternal grandfather, Kristian's mother and her brother, who was Sarah's father and also my father's Beta, waiting for Kris come here.

... I watched as Selena walked into the living room and sat quietly next to Vinny, and let's just say she was the last person I wanted to see right now... 

Finding your mate on a Full Moon day wasn't one of the best things that could happen to Werewolf as our instincts are strong, making us just want to be close to our mate and to want them just for yourself.

... In other words... 

As an Alpha, I simply wanted to drag her out of our territory just because, maybe she was dating again Kristian and honestly, that was one of the last things I should worry about right now... 

Kris hadn't yet entered the house and in my mind, I was guilty of saying that words earlier that came out of my mouth without thinking when I saw him... They should have just stayed in my mind... And could be interpreted as a rejection from me...

... I finally calmed down when I felt his presence in the hallway...

He entered the room and without saying anything, sat down in the armchair that was in front of me making the room remain in complete silence until my parents returned.

"Jack! All settled but in case anyone shows up I left Amy and Carlo at the gates to warn that the meeting was canceled." Amy and Carlo were respectively my father's Delta and Gamma who were present in the situation earlier too. "But I still don't understand why you asked me to cancel everything?"

"Sweet, I don't understand why you wanted to cancel everything..." The voice was from my mother who was already speaking before entering the room as she knew I could hear her perfectly. "... Now that you are with your mate, I thought that it would be another good reason to celebrate today."

She spoke looking toward Selena and Kris, especially Selena... I imagine that like everyone who was in here, she was in denial about the reality about who my best friend truly was to me as... He was the person with the worst historical and the last one on their, imaginary, list about who would be my Mate.

"..." I ended up sighing loudly before answering them. "That's why I canceled it... Now I have my mate but I no longer have a Beta."

"WHAT THE f**k ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!" I heard Kris's voice for the second time today when he stands up from his chair shouting in my direction. "Jack! I'm the Pack's BETA!"

"... shit..." I mumbled as I ran my hand through my hair, messing it up completely. "Are you sure, Kris?... Can you say that you don't know what I'm talking about?"

It looks like the people watching us in this drama weren't the only ones in denial... Kristian was also in the same state... I saw his mouth open and close a few times before I heard him swallow dry for not knowing how to answer me.

"... Both you and I know that you can no longer be considered my Beta as... You're the other Alpha from the Pack now." I answered the question made by me staring him directly in the eyes... "Anyone else wants to ask anything?"

Everyone looked at me and shook their heads... No one? Good... I sighed again looking at my lap before get up and tell my parents and willy-nilly all present there, that I would go out to run... Surely that would calm down my instincts and help me think better too...
