CHAPTER FOUR. The del Rossi’s.

1375 Words
On this cold December 1st morning—lol lemme stop. I sipped my coco as I watch Becca sweating buckets watching Lucas parade around the kitchen in his boxers. I’ve never gagged so much in my entire life. And I’m getting really sick of this. He sat at the island eating his oatmeal and blueberries, staring at his silver 7 iPhone. Becca and I were standing at the kitchen counter at least ten feet from him.” Stop staring and talk to him.” I whispered. She looked at me like I was crazy.” He won’t bite. Just talk to him, ask him about track, what football team is his favorite please just go talk to him and put me out of my gagging misery.” She looked at his back. Chewing on her bottom lip, nervously. I rolled my eyes and dragged her to him.” Lucas, you remember Becca from earlier,” Lucas looks at Becca and smiles, Becca’s cheek reddens,” she likes gossip, you like gossip. Converse, now.” Lucas turns off his phone then turns his full attention to Becca.” So...Becca, is there any town gossip that you’re willing to share?” Lucas asked. She nodded, slowly. He gestures her to the stool beside him. She sits down with a shy smile. “Marty Greenberg’s wife is a lesbian...well bisexual, he caught her cheating on him with Hazel Dent two years ago.” “Damn....who’s Hazel?” “The brunette with the amazing oatmeal n chocolate chip cookies.” She replied. Lucas’ eyes widened. “Why is it always the hot ones.” He sighs into his oatmeal. Becca looks at me and mouth  thank you.  I rolled my eyes I drank the rest of my hot coco after going into went the foyer. I grabbed my beige, ankle-high, fur boot and matching jacket. I opened the door and went out into the cold. To my surprise I saw a moving in truck in front of the del Rossi house. I walked off the last steps to get a closer look. There was couple leaning on the moving truck talking to Marty. Soon a pretty girl with tailbone-length, silky, auburn hair skipped out of the house. She looked my way and waved at me. I waved back, shyly. She waited until she was off the last step before gesturing me over.  I walked over. Not even half there the he couple looked over their shoulders at me and smiled warmly. Marty looked over at me and smiles.” Devin! Good afternoon.” He says. He gestured me over. I walked over with my hand in my pockets trying to warm them up. “Good afternoon.” I replied, when I stood beside Marty. “Good afternoon.” The couple said.  “This is Devin Harper, Deaton Harper’s daughter.” Marty informs.” Devin this is Imane and Vincent del Rossi.” I gasped when Imane pulled me into tight hug.  Stranger danger! ”Aren’t you just the cutest thing ever!” She cooed. She pulled away and held me at arms length. Imane had more of a Dutch accent. She didn’t look a day over thirty. She’s tall maybe around 5 foot 7. She has rich chocolate brown eyes, heart shaped face, slight downturned nose, her thin lips had pink lipgloss on them, her skin is slight tan. She’s beautiful. Her auburn hair was in sleek bun behind her head. She wore all white winter gear.” Victor! Let’s adopt her.” She blurts. My eyes widened. Over my daddy and Lucas’ dead bodies!  “What!” Marty, Vincent and I said in a union. I looked at Vincent. He looks incredibly stiff not very human like. More like robotic. He kinda creeps me out.” Please excuse my wife,” Vincent says in a deep Italian accent,” Vincent.” He says, holding a hand out to me. I tried to take it but Imane’s firm grip kept me in place. “Ime, let the girl go.” Vincent says. Imane pouts at Vincent.” You already have two daughters.” Imane turns her attention back to me.” They’re both adults and they don’t want to hang out with me anymore. I look like a fun mom, right?” I shrugged.   “We just met.” I replied.  “So precious.” She says, nesting my head on her chest. She stroked my head. Vincent make her stop!  At least her smells nice, I mean really good, like spring and Dove soap. “Ime.” Vincent warns. Imane let me go reluctantly. I looked at Vincent and truly took in his features. He’s not a very good looking man. Especially compared to Marty. His eyes are gunmetal blue, dark hair sleek back at waved at his nap, he has a crooked nose, pouty lips, squared jaw. He’s six foot...err...2 and a half...yeah foot 6 foot two and a half. He was wearing indigo winter wear. His eyes could tear though anyone’s soul. Creepy but pretty. “Its nice meet you both.” I said, politely. Vincent smiles down at his wife as he stares down at her pouting face. The way he looked at her....that’s love right there. Must be really nice. The closest to that  look I have ever gotten is when I visited my great uncle at a retirement. This elderly man thought I was Eartha Kit and kept hitting up me. True love? Where can anyone find that any more. “It’s nice to meet you too.” Vincent says. It was then I realized how quiet Marty was. I looked at him. Marty was staring dumbfounded by the girl that called me over. Is he drooling? Yup! He definitely is.” Ah that is our eldest daughter, Amalia.”  Amalia’s graze shifted to me and she grinned.” Isn’t he just the cutest.” She gestures to Marty. I know right, he’s freaking adorable. She toys with Marty’s hair before turning fully to me.” Amalia.” She says. “Devin.” I said. She didn’t look like she was older than fifteen. She was breathtakingly beautiful, five foot flat, gunmetal blue eyes, diamond shaped face, high cheek bones and a small button nose. She wore hot pink winter gear. I told you so Becca I knew one of them is going to be short. Dart! I should have bet money on it. She smirks.” Do you like Chardonnay?”  “You mean wine?” She gives me a small nod.” I don’t drink.” She pouts. “Just one glass.” She pleaded. “She’s just seventeen and she has school tomorrow, Amalia, but I’d love a glass,” Marty says, finally fallen out of his trance.” Or five.” Amalia continues to pout.” Maybe when I graduate.” I assured. “Ok.” She says, sadly. She hooked her arm with Marty’s.” I’ll see you around Devin.” She says, before heading to the house. I looked at Imane and Vincent, who were smitten by one another. I cleared my throat and they both looked at me.” It’s been nice meeting you Devin, we’ll hope to see you again soon.” Vincent says. “Bye Devin.” Imane says.” Oh my goodness! I almost forget, we’ve having an housewarming party tonight and we’d love it if you come with your family.”   “Uhh at what time?” I asked. “8 sharp.” She replies. “I’ll mention it to my dad and brother.” I said. She smiled before turning and rejoining her husband. They both walked into the yard. I just stood there staring at them. Okkk.  I turned on my heel and head back to home.
