Chapter 7 Stanley Recalls

804 Words
"Melissa, are you sure I can drink this?" Lilly looked at the colourful cocktail in front of her doubtfully. "Don't worry!" Melissa reassured her. Melissa suggested that they go out and celebrate after learning that Lilly had gotten the job, and she would not take no for an answer. So Lilly arranged for someone to look after Maisy before going out with Melissa. She never expected Melissa to bring her to a bar. Although she had been abroad and had seen the outside world, she was still very conservative. She had never liked clubs because, in her opinion, clubs weren't good places. They were sitting at the bar counter, next to the crowded dance floor. The DJ was pumping up the energy to the max. "Melissa, why do they keep looking at me?" Lilly felt a little uncomfortable when she saw a few dubious glances in her direction. Melissa, who was used to this sort of thing, didn't take any of these glances seriously. "They're just curious why an aunty would go to a club." She explained to Lilly while eyeing her clothes. She had tried to persuade Lilly to change her clothes before they went out, but Lilly wouldn't listen to her! "Oh, I'm fine with this." Lilly had said carelessly. After all, she was now a child's mother, and she no longer thought about all these frivolous things. She picked up her wine and took a sip. Lilly liked the wine, so she ordered several glasses in succession. Melissa burst out laughing at Lilly's clumsy drinking. At the same time, she drew the attention of those in the second-floor private room. "Oscar, you really don't know how bad Stanley's taste is. He actually hired a middle-aged aunty today. How am I going to go to the company in the future?" Isai complained gloomily, but he didn't dare to speak too loudly, afraid that the man in the corner would hear him. After hearing this, Oscar Cooper looked at Stanley, who was drinking alone and smiled, "His fiancee is a famous media personality." Isai seemed to approve of Poppy White, "Yes, it's a pity that she already has a boyfriend." His words made Oscar's heart skip a beat. He subconsciously glanced at Stanley. Although they grew up together and were known as the "Three Masters of Skargness," their relationship was not close enough for them to make fun of Stanley at will. However, what surprised him today was that Stanley did not react to Isai's joke. He was leaning lazily against the sofa, his obsidian-like eyes looking somewhere else. It was as if he had fixed his gaze on some kind of prey. The two men followed Stanley's gaze and soon found the place where Lilly was sitting. However, Lilly's face could not be seen clearly due to the dim lighting. "Damn it! Even aunties come to the bar now?" Isai exclaimed after seeing Lilly's side profile. She looked exactly like the aunty he had recruited today. "I think she looks pretty good." Oscar said with a smile. Isai felt dizzy, but after a few seconds, a smile appeared on his face. "The woman next to her looks good." He seemed to be seeing stars as he spoke. He walked down the stairs unsteadily with a glass of whiskey in his hand. Oscar picked up his glass and took a sip after noisy Isai left. "Do you really want to marry Poppy?" Oscar thought for a moment before finally asking the question in his heart. Although this Poppy White was good in all aspects, he always felt that she was not Stanley's type. "It's just a woman." Stanley lifted his eyes and looked at Oscar. To him, a woman was a non-essential thing. He didn't really care who he married. Every woman was the same in his eyes. But when Stanley finished speaking, the scene of that night five years ago suddenly resurfaced in his mind. That night, he had been drugged, chased by someone, and had inadvertently hidden in the Morris family's villa. He remembered the Morris family having a lively party at the time, but a thin figure was sitting alone in the garden. She wore a long white dress, and her bright eyes were full of sadness and confusion. All of a sudden, his heart skipped a beat, and he wanted that girl. It was his first time, and it was also his first time being lustful. He couldn't stop himself no matter how much the woman pleaded and cried. Before leaving, he took away a token from her body and swore in his heart that he would be good to this woman. But when he saw her again, the desire in his heart had disappeared completely. He thought that perhaps that sudden desire had been caused by the drug.
