By the time Lilly got home and washed up, it was already 10 o'clock at night.
She carefully opened the door to Maisy's room and saw Maisy asleep on the bed. However, Maisy's sleep was not peaceful because she kept calling for Mommy.
Lilly sat by the bed and patted Maisy gently.
She frowned when she looked at Maisy.
Although Maisy was a girl, her eyes were full of heroic spirit, unlike her arched eyebrows.
This trait could only belong to her biological father.
Lilly did not like to think about that night, but she bumped into Laura today and all these memories resurfaced.
Lilly could not help but feel bitter when she thought about all those people and the things about the past.
Although she had been mentally prepared before returning to the country, she still couldn't help being angry when she saw Laura's face.
She couldn't stop her resentment against the Morris family!
She resented herself too. All these things would not have happened if she had not become friends with Laura. She would not have had to leave her hometown for so many years.
"Plop!"
Tears fell silently on the quilt.
"Mommy, why are you crying?" Maisy suddenly woke up and looked at Lilly sleepily.
Before Lilly could wipe her tears away, Maisy hugged Lilly's neck and used her little mouth to kiss her mother's teary eyes.
Maisy imitated Lilly's usual way of comforting her and said seriously, "Mommy is a good girl."
Lilly couldn't help laughing through her tears.
"Mommy, do you want to sleep with Maisy? Come on up." Maisy slept to one side.
"Okay."
Lilly took off her shoes and got in.
"Mommy, you smell so good. You are the most fragrant Mommy in the world." Maisy buried her little head in Lilly's arms and took in her mother's scent.
Hearing Maisy's words, Lilly felt very happy.
But in the blink of an eye, she thought of the problem that had haunted her all these years.
"Maisy, can Mommy ask you a question?" Lilly hesitated for a long time, but she finally asked.
Maisy nodded.
"Mommy said if, if we found Daddy, would Maisy want to live with Daddy? Or would you stay with Mommy?"
The reason why she had not dared to return to the country these years was because she was afraid that someone else would take her right of custody to Maisy away. She was terrified that it would be Maisy's biological father.
But from Maisy's point of view, she had the right to choose.
Looking at Lilly's nervous expression, Maisy pouted and did not answer immediately.
The mother and daughter fell into a brief silence.
"Maisy, Mommy is just..." Lilly started when Maisy did not speak.
But Maisy smiled and told her mother her long-time secret wish.
"I want to be with Mommy and Daddy."
Hearing this, Lilly felt slightly bitter, but she still had to keep a smile on her face.
How could she live with a man she met by chance?
