Chapter 10

1437 Words
Damien and his siblings woke up early for the hunt; meanwhile, Amara is still on her bed. They are all having their breakfast in the dining house but they are missing one person. It was Rosella who finally voiced out about Amara’s absence. “I think I should go get Amara.” Rosella said standing up from her seat about to leave to get Amara when Barbara spoke, “We are not her attendants and she’s no longer a princess so stop treating her so special. She’s just another orphan now.” “Barbara, that’s enough.” Wilson scolded making Barbara roll her eyes. “Why don’t we just leave her here so she could watch over the house. The least she could do is to be useful.” Barbara added. “You can’t be serious Barbara.” Rosella commented. “We can’t leave her here alone. She’s still not used to this place and you know we come home once every three days---“ “If she comes with us………” Barbara inserted cutting Wilson off and slamming her fork down on the table. “………does she know anything about hunting? What could she possibly contribute to the group? All she knows is how to dress up and order people around---“ “I said that’s enough Barbara.” Wilson raised his voice which doesn’t happen all the time. Barbara snorted rolling her eyes. “Everyone calm down. You’re making my food taste bad.” Richmond tried to lighten the atmosphere but it seems none of them heard what he said. “You too, Wilson? She must really have a tremendous power over men like you and Damien.” Barbara continued. On the corner of the house, Amara stood there and heard everything. She’s thankful about Damien taking her all the way to their home and on top of that, Damien taught her the things she still needed to learn. There are still things that she wanted to learn and she’s not gonna let some problematic woman ruin her resolve. “Good morning.” Amara greeted getting all their attention. With Amara’s presence, the table turned silent for a moment. “Good morning Amara. I was about to wake you up.” Rosella was the first to greet Amara followed by Richmond saying, “Good morning beautiful.” “Good morning Barbara.” Amara greeted her with just enough enthusiasm to avoid the others from sensing her ingenuity. Barbara frowned raising her left brow as she look at Amara who sat on the opposite side of the table giving her a challenging smirk. Damien stood from his chair getting everyone’s attention, his eyes focused on Amara. “Let’s go.” “Huh?” Amara blinked her eyes looking around to make sure Damien is referring to her. Damien turned his back and walked away without saying anything further. Amara reluctantly stood from her seat and said, “S-see you around.” When Amara finally left, Barbara gritted her teeth with anger whilst everyone continued their meal but not without giving each other a knowing look. “I think there’s really something going on between those two.” Rosella commented smiling as she takes a mouthful of bread. “Even if there is, it has nothing to do with us.” Wilson commented in a grim voice making Rosella look at him with a frown on her face.   ~~~~~ Damien patiently waited for Amara at the foot of the tree, looking down Amara realized she’s only a couple meters away from the ground so she decided to jump off. But as she landed, she got off balance; good thing Damien was there to grab her arm, pulling her up. “Thank you.” Amara breathed out. Damien tossed a bow on Amara which caught her by surprise. “Come on.” Damien started walking but then Amara stopped him. “Wait, Damien. What about the others?” asked Amara pointing up the tree. “What about them?” Amara turned poker-face upon hearing Damien’s response. “Seriously, are we not supposed to be hunting with everyone?” Amara pointed out. “We never tried hunting together. We would always go on our own and meet at a specific place later.” Damien answered in a bored tone. “If you want to stay and watch over the house then be my guess.” Damien started walking off and Amara scowled as she followed him. Amara observed Damien as she walked behind him. She noticed that every step he takes is quiet and cautious. He always got his one eye out in case of any attacks and besides that, she also noticed how balanced Damien’s build is. He doesn’t have too much muscle; just, just right. Every move he makes his muscle moves and he gives off this strong aura that would make enemies quiver in fear. In addition to that, he also got the looks. They silently walked under the trees in the Dark Forest when Damien suddenly spun around at an unbelievable speed with a weapon in his hand. Amara bend her body outwards and flipped back to distance herself away from Damien. Just now if she’s not quick enough she would’ve died. Anger started to build in Amara as she looked at Damien. “What’s wrong with you?!!!” “Training. I am training you.” “I believe you were observing me from behind?” asked Damien making Amara frown, shaking her head in denial. “I am not checking you out? Since we were hunting, I was looking around and being cautious in case of any attacks or movements. Why in the name of the Gods would I look at your body and your physical attributes?” Amara defended which made Damien smirk. “So you were looking at my body instead of observing my movements?” Damien asked voice filled with amusement. “W-well I was observing your movements too. I noticed you were careful with every step you take and………” Amara blinked her eyes and tried to think of more words to say but she can’t think of anything. “And?” blinking her eyes Amara noticed Damien slowly taking a step closer to her. Instead of answering him, Amara took the bow and created an arrow using her magic. An arrow made of ice came out from Amara’s hand shooting it pass Damien. A squeaking sound from most likely a boar was heard and Damien smiled. “Good. So you were looking at my body.” Amara scowled and act disgusted as she replied, “No.” Amara ran to the boar’s direction and she was thankful that she only hit the leg. “Hey, there little fella.” Said Amara. Damien silently followed her and watched her from behind as she converses with the boar. The boar panicked wanting to escape but Amara held it down. “I don’t want to kill your physical body but I can let you live in me.” the boar started to calm down as Amara caressed its body. Moments later, a blue light came out from the boar’s body and it entered through Amara’s back. “Done.” Amara said turning around to face Damien. She was expecting him to be surprised but instead, Damien’s face held nothing but his usual emotionless expression. Damien stared at her making her frown wondering what’s going on in his mind. “You heard everything right?” Damien asked. Amara blinked her eyes and realized what he meant. “So you know I was there?” “I always know where you are.” Damien answered as he sat on the ground. Amara followed and sat next to him. “I understand that she hates me but I won’t let her words ruin what I came here for. She’s right I’m not a princess anymore, therefore, I don’t need to be considerate about how she feels.” “If she doesn’t want me here, then she better suck it up because I’m staying and I’m staying long.”
