Jail is better than her

Xander POV

“I am telling you officer, I wasn’t there to rob him, I swear” I begged again

“Yeah we will let you out, since you swore, because that’s what runs the justice system here, a person’s swear” the officer mocked again at my attempt.

“You have to believe me, I was there since some people reported that something wrong was happening in that house” I say 

“Could you tell us what’s the wrong were you reported about? , wait, are you saying that people don’t trust us enough to report to us but to you? Are you making fun of the government here? “ his tone is threatening now. 

“Officer I am not saying it and I can’t tell what was wrong” how could I just let it out that people suspected that there was a vampire living in that house, he would roll out on the floor laughing. 

“Then I can’ t let you go, now shut up and let me do my work” He dismisses me immediately. 

To my great relief I see Sam coming. He comes to me directly and looks like he is going to laugh. 

“Can I say I told you so?” his voice is slow but there is gloating in that. 

“You could say it later when you bail me out, now go to the officer and hand him the money” I say. Now that turns his smile upside down.

“Well actually, I have no money since we never got a vampire and never got Paid, to the little we had, you spend it on the things you brought online.

“So I brought the next best thing I can” and saying that he turns around 

No no no it can’t be happening, I am praying loudly or softly I don’t care. Not my landlady, she would kill me and eat me alive right here. 

“What has this Rat done now” The landlady says walking towards the office giving me a death glare. 

“Officer I would be okay inside, I take all my groveling back”  I say looking down. Yeah I couldn’t even face the fury in front of me. 

“You small ones, have gone too easy on robbers now a days. In our days when someone was caught getting inside someone’s house without permission, they used to be hung from the ceiling for the whole night gagging them so you could get a nice sleep. In the morning when they had the blood In their brain where it should be then only they were released.” She ends her story 

The whole prison has gone silent now and now is looking with full pity towards me. I want to bury myself right then and there instead of going home with her. 

Her attention is completely changed when she sees someone walking through the door.

“Well well well, look who we have here, the crazy town lady” she is lookin at a similar looking woman who has just gotten inside and is looking really troubled. 

“I don’t have time for this Suzen “ she says 

“Why? Did someone knock you up again? “ My landlady speaks with a mix of mockery and anger in her voice 

“You know its not the case with me” she says plainly. But I am confused. 

“Well all the gossips disagree , you are quite the talk of the town with your modern dating style” My landlady continues but is shut down by a scowl of Suzen 

“Not the right time, I am here to pick someone and if you just leave, it would be damm easy” now that silences my Landlady 

“Quick, let the rat out and hand him to me” she says 

“I don’t want to go” yes I am begging. 

“Get out and in the car and don’t you dare run” my landlady is scolding me in front of everyone 

As I am following her order, I see someone bring a girl out of the cell, I couldn’t see her face as it’s turn back but I could tell she is not having a good day. Her clothes are all wet and muddy, same goes for her hair. She looks like she is shivering immensely from head to toe. 

“Hope things go right for her from now on” I mutter before moving out and getting ready for my punishment.
