Ezra was frantic by the time she realized what had really happened. Everything he owned there was gone, but moreover, he wasn't there too.
He had left her alone and escaped.
But she still couldn't wrap her head around that. She sat on the edge of the bed restless, hoping the door will open up and Axel would step in to say she had it all wrong. Then he'd give her an explanation and they'd go back to the way they were the night before.
She knew reaching him through the phone would be something she could do but her fingers retaliated every time she tried to work through them.
Because deep down, she didn't want to face the truth even if she knew nothing of it. If he really had ghosted her, he hadn't f***ed her and left her to her own, but instead, he had played with her feelings.
