She sat alone in her room, staring at the edge of the walls and sighing. Whatever was even going on that it was way past her comprehension.
Suddenly, her phone chimed and she looked down at it to see a message from Aireen. She had sent her a picture of a Christmas tree that was just brought in and the decoration lying hastily around it. She wrote,
"Best time of the year but I miss you, Ezra. Hope you're having a good time as well," Aireen texted. She was smiling wide in those pictures with her family members and others. They were having a big family dinner.
"You too," Ezra texted back, knowing that it was a shorthanded reply but that's all she could afford then. She wasn't happy but Aireen was and that made her envious.
