CHAPTER 1: The Unexpected Blind Date
Luna
It was a clear and sunny day but my head hurts like hell. It was spinning so much that my vision is not focused right now. I let out a deep sigh as I got up from bed, I should be starting my day now or I will be late for work. I stood in front of the mirror as I looked at myself, I had a few bruises on my neck and some were on my arms. I chuckled as I remembered what happened last night.
It was a night full of life and fun. The loud sound from the speakers were still echoing into my ears and I could still feel my body dancing to its rhythm. I felt my body swaying and moving on each side, we should really go back to that club later tonight.
I finished doing all my routine as I pulled out a red high heel on the floor. I would be wearing that today and catch all those boys’ attention. I went out of the house, and got in the elevator. A man gets as it did not press any buttons on it, looks like he is also going to the parking basement. As soon as the door opened, I straightly went out and pressed my car key. I know which direction my car has been parked but I am not sure why this man is still following me. Should I think negatively about it? Or should I just brush it off?
I stopped as I looked back in the direction of that man. He is still following me from behind but he is not saying anything, he is not making any sound and he does not look suspicious, quietly enough.
“Are you new here?” I asked that man and he plainly stared at me. He did not say anything but yet he looked a bit sexy. He kept on walking somewhere as I saw a car beside mine. I did not recognize it so I looked again at the area where I parked my car. This area should only exclusively be for the tenants who lived at the top penthouses.
I just left with that as I quickly got in the car and watched the car leave quickly. I dialed my best friend and she answered in just one ring.
“Luna!” she yelled as soon as she answered the call.
“Hey, Karina. Have you ever noticed if someone is parking a car here beside ours?” I asked her as I also started driving out of the parking lot.
“Huh? I am not sure, why?” she answered as I tilted my head in confusion.
“Really? I saw some guy parking his car beside me and this is the first time I saw him.” I explained as I heard nothing from her end.
“Is there something wrong?” I asked her.
“I have a problem.” she said as I heard the hint of frustration in her voice.
“What happened?” I said as I reached the stop light in red.
“Dad made a blind date appointment, he wants me to meet that guy.” she said as she started yelling and throwing huge tantrums.
“Hey, wait. Stop yelling. We can fix this. Do you think you can say that we need to go somewhere? Or just make an excuse.” I said to her as the lights went green.
“No, he is not buying it anymore. He really wants me to go there or he will cut me off.” she said as I let out a deep sigh. I know that feeling and my parents also wanted me to get married now.
“Sorry, I cannot help with that.” I plainly answered.
“No! It is not like you cannot do anything about it.” She firmly said as I am now a bit scared of the sound of her tone.
“Shut it, I do not want to hear any of it.” I said as I was about to cut the line when I stopped as soon as I heard her opinion.
“What about you going to that blind date instead?” she said and I did not say anything.
Afternoon arrived and I cannot focus at all. I kept thinking about what she suggested and I would not say that I am not interested at all. I mean, it is just for one night. What could go wrong in that little time I can give compared to the wasted nights I am at the club. Of course, it cannot be compared to that- directly.
I grabbed my phone as I dialed Karina, as always, without exceeding one ring- she answered.
“Yes? Have you thought it through?” she immediately asked like she was staring at her phone the whole day waiting for my call.
“Yeah sure, where should I go and what time?” I said and I heard her squeak. Yeah, she squeaked as she yelled in a quiet manner.
“I will message you the details. You are really the best, Luna! I love you!” she exclaimed as she ended the call. I scoffed in disbelief as I heard a tone from my phone, I saw her message on my screen and it was a bit weird- “look for a man who is wearing all black.”- that was my date’s description.
Night fell as I saw people in my office were leaving one by one, calling it a day. I looked at the time and it was almost seven in the evening. I will be having that date at eight in the evening and Karina said that she will be sending my outfit for tonight.
I quickly turned my laptop off and put it in my bag, grabbed my phone and car keys as I left the office. I should not be late for that meeting, I am wearing my friend’s name and of course, I should not make any scenes with it. I quickly drove my car away from the company as I went home in just a blink of an eye.
I saw a box lying in front of my door as I looked at the address, it came from Karina and I think this is my dress. I took it up as I entered my place.
I cut through the box as a pint of laugh came out of me as I saw the dress that she gave me. That insane, she gave me a sexy short dress with black sequin sling bag. She put a note as well saying that I should wear the highest heel I have. I saw the time on the wall clock and I quickly changed into that dress, or else I would be really late.
I put on some make-up as I finished in a split second. I finally looked at myself in the mirror and left the house. I drove as quickly as I could, and I arrived at a five star hotel looking so shiny and gold. I went out and gave my key to a valet boy.
I entered the hotel in much confidence, wearing my bloody red dress, no one could tramp over me in this night. I smirked as I continued walking towards the restaurant hall. This place is only exclusively for people who have appointments and reservations that do not come overnight.
“Good evening ma’am, can I have your name?” a lad greeted me with a huge smile on his face.
“For Lu–” shoot, I was about to say my name but I clears my throat.
“Karina Madden.” I answered and smiled.
“This way, ma’am. Seems like your companion has not yet arrived.” he said and that made me confused.
“Really?” I plainly commented but I remained quiet until I arrived at my seat.
That is really weird, is it not the man who should always show up earlier than the woman? Like of course, that is part of being a gentleman. Now, that is already a minus point for him. I pulled out my phone as I messaged Karina. She must know this and tell her father that this guy could not be the best man for him.
I kept on waiting as I looked at every man who entered the hall. I am checking the only description I got- but strangely enough, no one is wearing an all black attire in this formal venue. I looked at my watch and it has been fifteen minutes since I arrived. Am I being stood up? Did he also decide not to go on this blind date? Well, this cannot affect me but what if Karina went and she waited all night for that jerk? Tsk, such not a good guy.
I started to order some small foods that kept me entertained. I heard that whatever happens on this date he will be the one to pay for the food and service. Who am I to reject that offer?
“Am I already that late?” I stopped as I heard a voice of a man in front of me. I looked up as I saw a gorgeous man standing with his awkward smile.
“No, not at all.” I was unconsciously saying those words as I finally remembered his face.
That is the guy I saw this morning at the parking lot.
