Emily was so shocked by Jake’s death that she didn’t even pay heed to the headless horseman as he advanced towards her. “I have failed you. I am so sorry.” She wept bitterly, holding onto Jake’s lifeless body. After losing her family, she had distanced herself from everyone. When she came into this world, she had just one goal, finding her brother. When she learned that her brother was dead, she had a choice to turn back and return to her world, but she couldn’t abandon that one person who risked it all to save her life. Within these last few days, Jake had become almost like family for her. And now, even he had left her. Her tears rolled down her pale cheeks and wet her silken locks.
