News of the King’s death left the 3 friends in utter shock. A deathly pallor spread over the entire palace as the courtiers and nobles feared for their own safety. They rushed to the King’s bedchamber to find out more about the heinous deed.
“How did this happen?” Jake burst forth, barging into the royal bedchamber without any regard for courtesy. His questions were the same ones which now plagued the minds of the other courtiers, and he directed them all at Florio. “How could someone have murdered the King inside a heavily guarded palace? Weren’t you and your knights supposed to be guarding him?”
