Emily was astonished to see that all her wounds had disappeared. Even the burn marks on her arms were gone. She felt a strange power coursing through her veins.
“Jake, why am I lying here and what strange clothes are these?”
Jake and Zill escorted her to Melos’s hut, accompanied by Balen. Lana was too ashamed to look Emily in the eye, after what her husband had done. And so she stayed behind. Safe from prying eyes and gossip, Jake recounted all that had happened since morning.
“I still can’t believe that Melos would try to kill me. I just can’t seem to remember anything. Everything after midnight seems to be a blur.”
