The next day, Florio and his knights informed the people that the palace had been closed in order to redecorate and prepare it for the new king. Life in Valenwood continued as before, the citizens went about their daily lives without knowing that their king had been murdered. The courtiers of the old king made sure that administrative affairs were conducted without any hindrance and justice was delivered swiftly. Florio and his men spent the entire day distributing rations among the slum dwellers and peasants. They knew it was only a temporary relief but better reformatory measures had to wait until a new ruler had been selected.
