Ashley's POV
Since the party happened two nights ago, everyone is talking about it and I have been the center of attention since then. People keep asking me about the guy how attacked me and if I am okay. I am extremely irritated by answering the question more times then I could count on my fingers, twice. Today, if someone comes to with the same question, I might just snap at them.
"You have that look on your face", Arnold says as he stands beside me as I retrieve my things from the locker.
"What look?", I check my time table once more, making sure I have the right books.
"The look that screams, 'Come near me and I will chop you into pieces and feed it to my non-existent dog'", he laughs and I groan before slamming the locker door shut and turning my face towards me.
"Do I now?", I raise an eyebrow at him and his laughter stops immediately. He raises his has in surrender and I smile sarcastically before putting everything in my bag.
"Let's get going", I say and as I turn around, I see Blake and Evander staring at us, waiting for us. We four have the same class right now and they decided to wait from the looks of it.
I nod at them before walking along, to wanting to talk. Evander and I went back to arguing about small things and not talking to each other much. The moment that we had in his car two days ago, was the only civil conversation and I have a feeling t would be that way for a long time.
"Dad asked me to tell you to call him during lunch. He says its important", Blake says and I nod at him. The results of the test must have came in and Dr. Ken could have arranged a appointment to discuss them.
"Okay. Thanks".
"Any idea what it could be?", he asks and I shake my head before shrugging. Even if I do, I am not telling him anytime soon.
"I am so done with this class, its not even funny", Arnold groans before flopping in the seat beside. Blake sat beside me for the past weeks, but I guess they interchanged.
"Arnold?", Blake questions him with a raised eyebrow.
"What?"
"You are in my seat".
"You can sit behind us right?", Blake was about to say something but decides against it and sits behind me while Evander sits beside him, being his brooding self.
"Did you complete the homework?", Arnold asks me.
"Yep. It was easy", I reply and continue drawing mindless patterns on the corner of my book.
"Well, designing is definitely not the right career path for you", Evander says from behind me and I stop mid-drawing.
"Just because you see me drawing some random patterns, how can you judge my skills?", I ask, already irritated with his attitude.
"We can all see the patterns which, by the way, are just scribblings".
"You know what, you have no right to f*****g judge me because you don't know the first thing about me. And if you really want to judge me, keep it to yourself because if I hear it one more time, I would probably hit you hard", I glare at him and he gives me an amused smirk.
"Judging others before even knowing who they are is just disrespectful and shows just how narrow minded you really are", I spit at him before turning around, trying my best to cool down. I have been in a bad mood since yesterday because these typical high schoolers cannot keep their stupid thoughts to themselves and the rumors that I have heard about me on the night of the party are getting to me. Once I find the person responsible, I might really kick their ass and I wouldn't care if I got suspended.
"Stop troubling her, Evan. She is already irritated and might really punch you", Arnold says and Evander scoffs.
"I wouldn't be fazed with a punch. We all know, I have got more juice than her", I whip my head around and glare at him. If it could hurt him, he would screaming like a girl as numerous daggers would be sticking out of his chest.
"Why don't we-", before I could initiate a fight, Blake stops us by glaring at both of us.
"Stop it, both of you. Evander, stop underestimating her and Ashley, please stop initiating fights", he says and I glare one more time before facing the teacher who cam in late, might I add.
The entire time I was the least interested in what the man in front was babbling about. Math has always been my least favorite subject and I hope this period ends sooner rather than later. I stare at my wristwatch in pure boredom as time passes slowly.
"Please submit your homework up-front while leaving", he says and leaves us fifteen minutes early. He seems like one of those teachers who couldn't give a damn about anything except for his students' marks.
We all scramble to our feet and leave the classroom after placing our books on the table. Its time for Geography now, one subject I really don't feel like attending. The only subjects that I will willingly attend are English, Science and till some limit, History. History can be interesting when it wants to be and a lot of people judge me on that, but whatever.
"You want to attend this period?", Arnold asks me.
"Does it look like I want to?", the scowl on my face is prominently visible and he chuckles lightly.
"How about we get out of here?"
"And do what?"
"Whatever you want", he shrugs and I think about it. Bunking one lecture wouldn't get me in trouble anyway. I have the perfect grades so they can't really complain.
"What do you think about pancakes?"
"Pancakes it is then", he smiles and we make our way towards his car and drive to the nearest cafe.
"I will have the chocolate chip pancakes with chocolate syrup on top", I tell my order while Arnold tells his which is the same as mine just with maple syrup.
"I will be right back".
"Thanks mate", Arnold says and I smile at the guy who smiles brightly before going to the kitchen. There are not many people here at this moment and I am glad. I really need some quite and this is just the perfect place.
"So, how was your life back in California?"
"To put it in the easiest of the words, happy and satisfied", of course that is not the entirely true but he doesn't need to know that.
"And here?"
"I am still getting used to being here. I am not completely settled".
"I understand", we sit in silence for a few minutes and I decide to break it this time.
"Since when do you know the others?", he smiles at that and places his elbows on the table, resting his chin on his right hand.
"I know Ryan since we were kids as our mothers are best friends so you can say, he is my diaper buddy. As for Blake and Evander, I got to know them through Ryan. Those two have been practically raised together by Martha but it isn't for me to tell. Anyway, we all became close because of our love for soccer and this along with the rival school are the only ones that actually have soccer as it is not a big thing, here in Australia and since then, we have been a tight knit group. Chole being Blake's sister and practically Evander's too, is always around, not that we mind and Ryan soon started dating Hannah, her best friend which led us to bring them in with us and now you are the latest addition to it", he smiles at me I give a small one back. That was sweet of him to mention me at the end.
"Here you guys go", the guy places the plates I front of us and we both devour them in matter of a few minutes. So, it wasn't just me who was hungry.
"Isn't your coach going to be angry at you for consuming so much of carbs and sugar?"
"What he doesn't know doesn't hurt me. I will work out a bit more today", he says and I chuckle at his words and he joins me.
"We should get going. I have PT before lunch time", I stand up and place the money but he hands it to me before paying for our pancakes.
"I could have paid for mine".
"I invited you here and anyway, if my mom got to know that I let you pay, she will definitely kick my ass", he says.
"A gentleman never lets a lady pay, even if she is more than capable of doing it".
"Next time we come, I am paying, deal?"
"Deal. Now, let's get going", we quickly get into his car and he starts driving and we reach school in no time.
As we enter the school, we find the group standing there, looking a little tense. Blake and Evander in particular. Chole is trying to call someone while Hannah is trying her best to not loose her s**t and Ryan is also calling someone and the next second, Arnold's phone starts ringing and all of their eyes snap towards us. I see a number of emotions pass through their eyes and eventually settling on relief while I can see the anger in Evander's eyes, prominent as the sun today.
"Hey guys. What happened? You guys look a little tense".
"Where the hell have you guys been?", Hannah asks as the boys are still staring at us as we just landed from a spaceship and have a head, bigger than our body, a missing nose and doe-like big eyes.
"We decided to ditch Geography and went for some pancakes. Why?"
"We were worried", Chole says and she hugs me to her, tightly. I stand there awkwardly before patting her shoulder.
"Why were you worried?", I ask them and something snaps in Evander and he struts towards me.
"With everything that happened, we were worried", he says as his eyes blaze with anger.
"And, we need to teach you both how to f*****g receive the phone when someone calls", he raises his voice slightly at the end of his sentence.
"I am sorry man, but we were talking and I forgot to unmute my phone and so did she, I guess", I nod before focusing back on Evander.
"Next time, you better text at least one of us before going off like that", Blake says in a stern voice and I stop myself from snapping at him. He is not my father to tell me what to do and what not to do but I decide to not press his buttons. He still looks a little pissed and I would rather he not tell anything to Ian or Martha anyway.
"Fine", I move away from them and go to my locker before keeping my books away.
"Change of clothes?", Hannah asks and I shake my head.
"I don't really feel that good, today".
"He won't let you sit out".
"Ian took care of it", she blinks twice before nodding.
"What do you guys have?", she ask the others.
"We all have gym today, Hannah", Chole says and comes to my side, before taking my hand in her and links the other one between Hannah's.
"First, let's go to the loo", she says and drags us before we could protest.
We go inside and she checks the stalls before locking the door from inside. I raise an eyebrow at her and she copies me.
"What?"
"Where did you both go?"
"Just the place around corner for some pancakes".
"That's it? Give us some details, Ashley".
"What do you mean?"
"Was it a date?", she asks and I immediately start choking on my own spit.
"What? No way. I didn't want to attend Geography so he gave me an out, that's it".
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. It wasn't a date. Now, let's go", I say and they both sigh in relief, at least I think so.
Its time for lunch now and they all are starving after playing dodgeball for an hour. I ate three stacks of pancakes and I am still hungry but can you blame me? When there is white pasta in front of, looking all cheesy and delicious, you can't help but salivate.
As I am about to sit, the queen b***h herself, graces us with her presence. Everybody turns to glare at Evander while he continues looking into his phone, which I am sure is more entertaining than her and her minions who now I know as Pamela and Catherine.
"You are in my seat, yet again", she sneers at me and I roll my eyes.
"We established that you don't belong here and no one wants you here".
"f**k off b***h. Just get the hell up and leave".
"You are not the boss of me, satan".
"Gian is?", I freeze after hearing his name and everyone immediately gets up. Chole is fuming and was about to hit her but I stop her with one look.
"What?"
"I heard what happened at the party. He didn't give into you so you decided to go ape s**t on his ass".
"So, now running with false stories, are we?"
"I am not the one who is talking about it. The entire school is and now thanks to you, the rivalry increased by ten fold. You probably wanted him to have s*x with you but he said no and-", before she could complete her sentence, I punch her in the face. I hear the cracking of her nose and I have never been more satisfied with myself.
"If you ever say something like that to me again, I promise you, your nose won't even top your list of priorities", I whisper it to her and I am yanked by a strong pair of arms.
"You just had to do that, didn't you?"
"You wouldn't have if you were in my shoes?"
"I definitely would have", Evander whispers back with a smirk.
"WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?", the principal comes while Mia stands on her feet with the help from minions 1 and 2.
"She punched me and broke my nose", Mia half groans and half yells making the principal rub his eyes in exhaustion.
"She was provoked by Mia", Ryan states while the others agree.
"You all are coming to my office, right now. Pamela take Mia to the nurse's station then bring her to me", with that we follow him towards his cabin. Mia flips her middle finger at me and I smile at her before going inside the cabin while my friends wait outside, in the hall.
