Everyone was excited about the wedding... But it wasn't mine. It was Bill's, my ex-boyfriend, and Fleur's wedding. I was invited, and I came.
I arrived in the Burrow a lot early than necessary because I was planning to help in the preparations, and what greeted me was the most heartbreaking scene I've ever seen.
Bill and Fleur were kissing in the living room. His arms wrapped tightly around her waist. I used to be the one he's holding like that.
I don't know if they even notice my presence but I did all my best to sneak inside the house to get to the back. Sighing to myself, I make my way to the vast field, where Arthur, Fred, George, Ron, and Harry were using magic to build the largest tent I've ever seen, for the wedding.
"Hey, guys!" I shouted, waving my hands in the air as I run towards them.
I saw how Fred and George grin after seeing me. They waited for the tent to get a fix before running to me.
"We've been waiting for you." started Fred, quickly followed by George.
"Wanted you to test our new products."
"Bloody hell, you two! Give the girl some space. Hi."
"Hello to you too, Ron." I ruffled his hair playfully, which he scoffed at before going back to help his father.
I made my way to them and kiss Arthur in the cheeks. A manner of mine we both got used to.
"You're early," he said, a sincerely warm smile plastered on his lips along with the crinkles on his forehead.
"Yeah. Figure out you guys might need some help."
"Is it okay for you to do this?" I smile at Arthur and nod my head.
"Think that it's time to get a move on for my own sake." Arthur nodded at me and press my shoulder to comfort me.
I got busy helping them decorate the inside of the tent, that I even forgot that I haven't even greeted Molly and Ginny. I set a table down and let out a huff of air before telling the others that I'll get back to the Burrow.
I laughed at Fred and George's antics, before stepping out of the tent. Lifting my head to look at the tent, everything started flashing back at me.
Bill and I were Hogwart's sweethearts. We used to be a popular couple for being troublemakers aside from the fact that we both excelled in our studies. We both love adventuring and that's maybe a reason why we had a quick clique until we graduated.
Bill became a Curse Breaker in a Gringotts Wizard Bank in Egypt, while I became an Auror at the Ministry of Magic. At first, everything was working well for the two of us. It was great. We keep sending letters, gifts, and greetings to each other.
Until the time that our busy schedules and distance, finally got a toll on us. I thought we could mend it, but Bill admitted that he cheated behind my back with one of his co-workers. It was Fleur. It was painful, yes, but what can I do? I wasn't with him when he needed me, but she does. Though, we both know he shouldn't have done that. Eventually, I let him go and I end up stuck with my boring life. Nothing to do but work and work. Busying myself so I can forget about the pain for a moment.
"There you are! Ron told me that you came. I wanted to see you but you were busy!"
I lift my head, a bit surprised at Molly's tight hug. I hug her back and chuckle.
"I missed you, Molly."
She pats my arm and smile, before walking back to the table where she's currently laying a couple of plates down.
I look to my right and a smile finds its way on my lips when I saw how Ginny kissed Harry's cheek. But that's when I also felt it. The feeling of being watched.
Roaming my eyes around the room, I found the owner of the stares and saw him. Standing right beside his fiancée, his hands intertwined with hers.
Swallowing the big lump on my throat, I made my way to them and smile. It wasn't force or fake, it was sincere. Because I am happy that Bill is happy. I can't be bitter because of it.
"Congratulations on your wedding," I mumbled out, kissing Fleur on the cheeks. She smiles at me and thanked me.
I look at Bill and there was this look in his eyes that I couldn't pinpoint, nevertheless, I congratulate him and shake his hand. I awkwardly pull away before tears can even roll down my eyes and turn my back on them. I went into the kitchen and help Molly prepare dinner.
Tomorrow night will be Bill's and Fleur's wedding, and I'll be there to watch them. How pathetic of me.
§
Everyone woke up so early the next day to prepare. The whole house was on a mess as if World War Three, the muggles keep saying, had happened in the Burrow.
Everyone's in a rush aside from me. I would only be a spectator of the wedding. There's nothing for me to do since every preparation had all been done yesterday. So, I locked myself in Ginny's room.
I packed my things last night since I would be leaving after the wedding. I won't be staying for the reception, since that would be torture for me.
Hours pass by quickly and any minute now, the wedding will start. I was already wearing a plain white dress that has ruffles and sequins on it as a design.
I was on the verge of tying my hair into a tight bun when there was a knock on the door. Molly's frantic face beams at me after getting inside and I quickly tensed up. I run up to her and grab her hands.
"Molly. What's wrong?! Did something happened?!"
"The... The bridesmaid... She had an emergency."
My brows furrowed in an instant. My heart was pounding because I thought someone got hurt. Scratching the back of my neck, I let out a relieved sigh and pull away.
"Oh... Uhh... Can I help with anything about it?"
"I don't want to ask you, believe me. But they told me they need one..."
I squint my eyes as I try to follow what she's implying, and when I finally realize what she was saying, my eyes widen.
"They want me to be the bridesmaid?!"
"I'm sorry, dear. I know getting invited for this day was already a painful thing, but Fleur doesn't want to start the wedding without a bridesmaid."
I look at Molly with disbelief. I badly wanted to storm out of the room and confront Fleur, but that would end up making a scandal. I don't want to ruin Bill's special day.
Letting out a frustrated groan, I facepalm and look at Molly with defeated eyes.
"Fine. I'll be their bridesmaid."
"Oh! Thank you, dear! Thank you so much!"
I patted her back softly when she hugged me tightly.
"But we have a problem..." she quickly pulled away. "This is the only dress I brought with me."
"That's not a problem."
She grabs my hand and pulls me out of Ginny's room. She drags me towards her room and pushes me inside. We didn't meet anyone along the way. Maybe they were already in the tent. But where's Fleur?
A few minutes later and I'm already complaining.
"Molly! This is a wedding dress!"
"Yes. Because we're at a wedding."
"No! This is the bride's dress! Are you sure I'm not wearing too much?! I don't want to stand out too much at this wedding! I'm not the bride!"
"But I want you to be the bride."
My eyes soften at the sight of Molly. She's been an avid supporter of my relationship with Bill, but we both know that that phase of our lives is done.
"Molly, we already talk about this."
"I know. I know. Just... Just get on with the flow of the event. And believe me, you're not going to stand out."
Sighing to myself, I follow her out of the Burrow. It was already dark, but I can see the bright light coming from inside the tent.
I'm not the one getting married, but my heart is pounding so hard against my chest, to the point that I can even hear it clearly as if it was beside my ears.
"Hey."
"Fleur?" I muttered out, after seeing her outside the tent. Just right in front of the entrance.
She was wearing a white gown, but... it was a lot simpler than what I am wearing. I give Molly a nervous glance, fearing that Fleur would feel insulted about the dress. To my surprise, she didn't say anything about it at all.
"You look beautiful." I smiled at her compliment, but then frowned when I remember something.
"Where are your parents? They're supposed to bring you to where Bill is."
"They're inside. Waiting to see the bride."
"Wait. But you're the bride... Okay? But shouldn't you be behind me? I mean, bridesmaid comes first and the bride follows, right?"
But I didn't get any answer. She just winks at me and gets into the tent.
A feeling of something pulling my guts out settled in my stomach and I can't move. I feel suffocating and my mind was swirling with questions. My emotions in constant haywire.
"Molly..." I mumbled out, looking at her with begging looks to tell me what is going on.
But like Fleur, she only smiles at me and kisses my cheek.
"Fleur's right. You look beautiful."
She grabs my right hand and wraps it around her left arm. Slowly, she guided me into the tent.
I wanted to run away, but I wasn't able to, when series of applause erupted inside the tent, as Molly and I, make our way to the front, where Charlie and Bill are standing.
I absentmindedly grip Molly's arm and I felt a pat from her. I tried to roam my eyes around the tent, but it keeps coming back to Bill.
He got a lot tanner and taller, since the last time I saw him, which was three years ago. He looks stunning with his long red flaming hair tied in a ponytail. He was wearing an earring with a fang dangling on it. My gaze runs across the deep scar on his face, and I can't help but get turn on with it. He looks stunningly hot with that. It shows experience and maturity.
He was grinning from ear to ear when Molly and I stop in front of me. Molly once again kissed me on the cheek, but I was too engrossed at Bill's face.
"Are you just going to stare at me or we'll get on with this wedding?"
I watch every moment of his mouth and gape at him. Did he just said 'wedding?'
"Wait! What-"
Before I can protest, he pulled me into the center, and in front of none other than Arthur himself. He beamed at me and his son and started the wedding with 'Say your vows'
Bill take a hold of both my hands and face me.
"I know nothing of this make sense to you-"
"Hell, you're right!" I exclaimed, earning laughs from the people watching us.
"Will you just listen first, Baby?"
"No, William Arthur Weasley! Explain this or this wedding won't proceed."
"So you're not ignoring the fact that we're getting married?"
"William..."
"You'll understand everything if you listen."
I squint my eyes at him for a moment, before finally letting out a sigh. I look at him dead in the eyes as he squeezes my hands.
"I know this doesn't make any sense at all. The last time we saw each other was three years ago, after we broke up, and now we're getting married without even getting back together. I wanted to fix everything about us, but I can't wait any longer. Those three years were a definite hell for me. You don't know how much I regretted cheating behind you. But I can't blame you for not knowing, because I can't make you stay after knowing every stupidity I've done. I tried to settle with Fleur and thought of moving on from you, but my heart won't listen. It keeps wanting you. Each second, hours, days, months, and years. It never failed from wanting you. I missed you so much, Baby. So much that I even made Fleur my accomplice even though I know it's hurting her, just to get you here. I want you back. I know it's selfish of me, but I love you. Always."
Nothing can explain what I'm feeling right now. Tears are streaming freely down my cheeks as I listen to him. At every word he says. I've wanted him back, and I didn't know that all this time, he wants the same thing.
I bit my lower lip and let him brush the tears away with his soft kisses against my skin. He pecks a kiss on my forehead and leans away to look at me.
"I hate you, William... Yes, you heard me right. I hate you. I hate you for making me missed you so much. I hate you for making me feel incredibly crazy for wanting you every second of my life. And I love you. I love you so much, that everything I did makes it worth it. I can't believe I fall for such a thing like this, but I won't have it any other way. You didn't need to go into this trouble. All you have to do was kiss me the moment you see me yesterday and I'll be yours again, but you wouldn't be my William if you weren't complicated. I love you, Bill. And just to tell you, you look stunningly gorgeous with that scar. I love it."
Bill softly lean on my touch, as I run my fingers tenderly across his scar.
We both look at Arthur when he speaks up again, this time, telling Bill to kiss his bride and seal the start of our relationship, as Husband and Wife.
Bill looked at me with so much love in his eyes that I felt myself crying again.
Leaning with him, I felt his soft lips touching mine. I've missed it. I've missed this so much. I wrap my arms around his neck and pull him closer to deepen the kiss.
We heard loud cheering and screams of 'Congratulations' from our friends and family, and we both smile between the kiss.
Bill pulls away and leans his forehead with mine, his arms resting on my hips as he pecks a soft kiss on my nose.
"You're the best." I grinned at that, and kiss him again.
This time, a lot longer and a lot passionate than the first one. I bit his lower lip and quickly slid my tongue on his mouth when his lips parted. I felt his chest vibrates against mine after he chuckled at my action. Knowing, how much of a leader I can be when it comes to making out.
Though tonight, after the wedding, we'll both call it, Making Love.
