It was coming to the end of the night after having a great family get together which was much needed to pull Bella out of her depressed mood since the club shooting and Max's death. I will admit, I needed it too.
I had received a text from Ed apologizing for his and Sofia's departure during my and Bella's heated intermission in my office as they could not find us to say their goodbyes. Shortly after Bella and I returned, others started to disperse. Caden decided to leave as he knew we would be discussing mafia business and, given our established strict separation between that world and our legit business, he did not want to accidentally overhear any compromising information.
We patted each other on the back before he went over to give Bella and Gia a hug goodbye. I notice
