The mayor’s campaign launch gala was a lavish affair of who’s who in New York's upper society, politics, the fashion industry, and the cinematic world. The staging was beautiful with a catwalk that led halfway to the center of the hall and two sets of rows of chairs surrounding it. To the sides there were various numbered tables with large gold and white floral centerpieces.
Victor and I were sitting with Mayor Hill, her husband, and her campaign team. We mingled among the power brokers, and I was left agape at how well-known Victor was and me, by extension, to him. I noticed that a few of the campaign strategists kept asking Victor when he would join the political arena. They floated ideas like Governor of New York, and he sidestepped the question.
