Chapter Fourteen

1198 Words
Jett I had never been so turned on by the feel of a girls body pressed against my back. I had never had to struggle to concentrate on keeping my bike up right and on the road like I had to with Harper at my back. Her arms wrapped around my waist and her cheek pressed between my shoulders blade. At first she clung on for dear life but soon I felt her relax slightly. And then she started laughing. Small giggles at first but then they over took her body and I could feel her vibrate against me. Her whole body shook as she laughed and it made something warm start to spread through my chest. I liked it when she laughed. I liked the feel of her breasts pressed against me. Hell I just liked her. “You enjoy that?” I pulled the helmet from her head as soon as I had tugged her off the bike. It sure looked like she had enjoyed it. “I’ve never been on a bike before…” I watched as she tried to smooth down her hair and bit back a laugh. She had an epic case of helmet hair. Instinctively I moved into her space , smoothing the fly away locks back down with both hands. Her own fluttered nervously but she didn’t move away from me. If she had been any other girl now would have been the moment. That one perfect moment where the hero would kiss his heroine and sparks would fly. But I wasn’t her hero. No matter how much I wanted to be. And the truth was I wanted to kiss her. Badly. I wanted to explore every inch of her with my tongue. “But yes I enjoyed it, I never realised it could be so …” She paused and her hands that had been fluttering around as I smoothed her hair down suddenly settled on my chest, causing my heart to speed up again. This girl. She was doing weird things to me that was for sure. “Exhilarating.” The way she was looking up at me, with her wide eyes and half parted lips. If she carried on I would kiss her whether it was a good idea or not. Exhilarating , I wasn’t sure if she was talking about the bike ride anymore because her being in my arms was the only exhilarating thing I could think of. “Anytime you want I will take you out for a ride.” I couldn’t tear my eyes away from her and she blinked slowly. Her eyes darting down to the small space between our bodies. She seemed to be lost in thought for a several long seconds and I didn’t breath. I didn’t move a muscle. Any small movement would break the spell. And I wasn’t quite ready to have this moment end just yet. “Hell I’ll teach you to ride a bike if that’s what you want.” The words were whispered but she heard me easily. Her eyes widened. “You would?” “Yes, it would be good for you to learn. Bikes are … well bikes are the perfect way to escape. Having one will give you a way to get away when you decide to leave.” Even as the words left my mouth I regretted them. Mentally slapping my forehead I skirted my eyes away. What kind of fool mentioned a way of escape to the woman he wanted? Now she would think I was already planning on getting rid of her. When the truth was the total opposite. My animal wanted to keep her. I wanted to keep her. We couldn’t so we just had to get over it. “That would be great. Thank you Jett.” Her hands dropped to her side as she stepped away slightly. “It’s nothing honestly Harper.” Reluctantly my own hands dropped from her fave. And just like that the moment had gone. Me and my big mouth. I should have just kissed her when I had had the chance. “Jett.” A loud growl cut through my self doubt and the heckles on the back of my neck rose to attention as the power of that voice washed over me. Harper’s eyes had gone even wider as she watched the owner of the gruff voice approach. I turned with a smile, using the bulk of my body to shield Harper from the newcomers sight. Not because he was a threat to her. But because she was feeling uncomfortable, she was afraid and I had told her I would protect her. “Diablo.” Stepping up to the older man I gave into the kind of hug only men give each other. Complete with the kind of back thumping that would leave bruises on other men. “Bat told me you were bringing a guest.” His hazel eyes glinted as he stepped away, trying to see Harper who was still firmly behind me. “Yeah , Harper,” turning slowly I motioned for her to come and meet the man in front of me. “Harper this is Diablo, our president Diablo didn’t say a word , just stared at her as if she had grown another head and I wrapped my hand around hers, squeezing softly. Trying to tell her telepathically that she had nothing to fear from him. He was huge and looked mean but she wasn’t in any danger with him. “God , Diablo say something.” I scuffed my boot in the dirt. “Don’t just stare at her.” “Shut up.” Finally he stuck out his hand and tentatively Harper shook it. Glancing up at me with questioning eyes as he brought the hand to his lips. “What the hell is a lovely looking girl like you doing with this brute?” She giggled. And it was a girly care free sound. It suited her. “Shut up.” Diablo laughed. “Come on it anyway Harper, are you hungry? I bet you are hungry.” “Remember what I said about what you might see here Harper.” I needed to remind her , she had to ignore what might be on the other side of that door if I had any chance with her. She was a good girl. And I wasn’t a good man … “Stop worrying, the place has been cleaned up.” I grinned , Good Bat and Diablo had obviously been busy. “Come and meet everyone Harper, they are excited to meet you.” He offered his arm and Harper took it almost with hesitation. Leaving me trailing behind. I didn’t like seeing her on the arm of another man one bit. A growl tumbled from my lips and the low sound just made him laugh even louder. “Put your claws away kitten.”
