The sun glistens across the Liard River and straight through a ranch house window, storking the beautiful tanned skinned of young eighteen-year-old Lily. Her eyes slowly open and she takes a deep breath. Another crisp chilly morning in North America for the Glacier Peak Pack, a werewolf community hidden deep within the The Rockies, running alongside the Liard River. This however isn’t just any pack this is the strongest and most revered pack across the entire continent. Given the vast isolated areas of the Rockies the pack has spread out, the Grand Chateau at its core. This stunning limestone mansion, inspired by European castles is home to Glacier Peaks Alpha and his family, which only consists of his parents and sister. Six more, slightly less grand however still large and luxurious woodland mansions reside surrounding the Chateau, these are packhouses.
Then there is Appledean, a small woodland ranch home to Lily and her mother. Their home is based on the outskirts of the pack territory and they are looked on as almost outsiders, they keep to themselves, hunt by themselves and they never join the pack runs and celebrations. However, they had their own secret to keep and protect.
The light hit her face and Lily yawned, her bright blue eyes opened, and she pushed the long dark brown hair off her face. Her body ached. She needed to run; her wolf needed to run. Werewolves have two spirits living within one body, the human side and the wolf side.
“Its been too long Lily, I hurt I need to stretch, I need to RUN!” Lula started already; Lily rolled her eyes at her wolf started an argument with her inside her own head before she had even properly woken up. However, it was true they were desperate to shift into wolf form and stretch those elegant long legs and see the world through wolf eyes for a while.
“Mum says we must only shift when absolute necessary- no one most ever see you Lula” Lily tried reasoning, mentioning shifting sent her mother into a panic that was even harder to deal with than Lula’s anger. Her wolf went silent on her, they barely spoke anymore, and this hurt, growing up Lily wasn’t allowed any friends, she never went to school or out to the park, so for all these years Lily and Lula had only ever had each other. Lily spent her life gathering firewood, completing chores on the ranch and training. Training, training, training. It drove Lily mad, she thought it was because her father had never been around and having to live without a mate had driven her mother crazy, but on her 5th birthday and her first shift Lily had found out why. Why they lived such a secluded life and why her mother lived life petrified. Lily was a white wolf. A pure white wolf.
“Up you get lazy bones, breakfast and boxing this morning I think” Faith was always chirpy and always happy. She loved her daughter and Lily was her entire life. This attractive woman looked at her daughter and immediately could sense the tension she was having with her wolf; it made her sad. This was no life for a beautiful young girl, but she had to be kept safe. The rest of the pack had held a feast the night before and was most likely hung over and sleeping in this morning.
“or perhaps you would like to go for a run?” Faith watched her daughters’ eyes light up. She just hoped she had made a good choice.
