CHAPTER THREEAs the Earl’s carriage drawn by four extremely fine horses drew nearer to Galeston Park Carmela felt more and more frightened. It had been exciting to drive to London yesterday in the Countess’s carriage which she knew so well, and even when she arrived at Galeston House in Park Lane she did not feel overwhelmingly nervous. This was because she was quite certain from the letter which Felicity had shown her that the Earl would not be there.
