This is how Hugh ends up driving Krista and the Stanford grad student to Chinatown.
When Krista asked Hugh to give them a lift, a strange and unfamiliar sensation washed over him. He became unusually aware of the steady pounding of his heart, soon followed by a giddy feeling in his solar plexus. Whatever this strange sensation was, it removed any desire he might have to decline, and pushed him to nod his head at her as if he’d only been waiting to be asked to drive two women around San Francisco.
