*Symone*
I take a step forward towards Master Altair and he smiles at me. "You're a part of the council? I had no idea!" I gave him a big hug. "Did you know?" I look back and asked Roman. He looks as surprised as I do. He nodded.
"Why didn't you tell me?" I looked up at my mentor. "It was of no concern to you at the time. But I heard you were coming so I thought I would come out to greet you." He gives me a big smile. "I see you've been busy." He takes a step back to look at my growing belly. I laughed.
"Boy of girl?" he inquired. I shrugged. "Roman doesn't want to know yet, so we haven't found out. I look back at my mate and give him a raised eye brow. He smiled and shrugged. Roman steps to Altair and they shake hands.
"Hello Luna Symone, Alpha Roman. It is a pleasure to finally meet you both." the shortest man said. "My name is Oberon. He shakes my hand, then Roman's. "My name is Lucius." the tall one says as he grabs my hand and kisses it. Roman growls and Lucius looks up at him. "Calm down young alpha. I won't bite your luna. Looks as though you've already done that."
He looks at the mark on my neck then smiles back at Roman. "Let us go inside. We would like to speak to you two before we let you see the prisoners." Oberon says and he gestures us inside. As we step into the large building, the first thing I noticed were the floors. They are a beautiful black and white marble with gold streaks throughout.
The walls are made of white stone with gold and black accents in them. There are lots of old art pieces in the lobby- paintings, busts, and statues. It's quite stunning. I walk arm in arm with Master Altair as I check out my surroundings.
There are servants working here as well. Some are cleaning the floor and dusting, others are polishing statues. They give me a warm smile and bow their heads, then continue with their work. "These aren't slaves, are they?" I looked at my mentor and inquired. He lets out a chuckle.
"No, Night Fire. Of course not. They are paid handsomely." He pats my hand. "Yes, they did out with slavery ages ago, unfortunately. Nothing better than a human girl to feed on and play with to my heart's content." Lucius hisses. I look at him and he smiles. "No offense, my dear." Roman growls at him again.
We are led into a large room with the same stone walls and marble floors as the lobby. There is a massive stone, round table with tall wooden chairs around it and what looks like a large crystal ball in the center. "What is this?" I ask Master Altair. Oberon answers my question.
"This is the Room of Knowledge. Here, the oracle can see current and future events that can help us determine how an offense must be handles." the little man said. "This is how we came to the sentencing of Alpha Cesar and his daughter, Lana." Lucius said.
"We could see the pain you endured. We saw what Roman went through and how much you both suffered because of their heinous actions. Your death sealed his fate." Roman flinched when he mentioned me dying. He walked over to me and wrapped his arms around my waist from behind. "There was no other choice than to have him executed. It was a unanimous vote between all 42 members of the council." Oberon added.
"Well if you all hadn't come to that conclusion, I would have killed him myself." Roman growled. "As for his daughter, we felt it best to banish her. All packs in the country have been made aware of her crimes against you." Master Altair said. I turned to him. "Why banish her? You saw what she did to me. You were there. She tortured me every time she touched my mate. I almost lost my mind." Roman squeezed me hand.
"While she used black magic to force Alpha Roman into marking her, she claimed she did not know of her father's plan to take your life force as his own." Lucius professed. I wanted to argue the point more, but looked between the old men's faces and figured there was no point. They had already made their decision on the matter.
I turned to Altair and spoke with authority. "If I see that b***h again, I will not hesitate to slit her throat." He nodded slightly then turned to Lucius and Oberon. "If you are ready to see the prisoner, I can take you to him now. He is to be executed at dawn tomorrow morning." Lucius stepped toward me.
Roman stepped between us and growled. Lucius let out a condescending laugh. "You need not worry, Alpha boy, your Luna would be in safe hands." He looked my body up and down, then smiled at me. "Lucius can come off as sly, but he is a long time trusted member of the council. He would dare not harm your Luna." Oberon said to Roman.
Roman never took his eyes off of Lucius. "Well I would harm him if he ever so much as considered it." Roman growled again, this time taking a step towards Lucius. He chuckled once more. "Relax, Alpha. I am harmless- like a kitten." He bared his teeth then smiled. "Kitten, my ass." Roman pulled me towards the door.
"I will go to the cell with you if you want." He offered, softly. I nodded. "It's okay. I want to speak to him alone. You can go in after." Oberon stepped to our side. "This way Alpha and Luna." We walked to the far end of the large lobby and came to a doorway. Inside was a set of large stairs going down. "What is this place. Hogwarts?" I joked, looking at the hundreds of portraits on the walls near the stairwell.
Oberon laughed. "You are a funny lady, Luna Symone." I looked at Roman. He had no expression on his face. I am certain that even though he won't admit it, he is hurt by Cesar's actions. I grab my husband's hand and squeeze it, getting his attention. He looks at me and smiled softly.
We walked down these stairs for what seemed like forever until we finally got to the bottom. This corridor was nothing like the lobby we were just in. It is bright white- almost too bright. There were guards posted outside of another walkway and behind them were cells holding supernatural criminals.
"I've never seen such a bright dungeon." Roman observed. The place was incredibly bright white. It was clean and quiet. "This place is enchanted. It is impossible to escape from. It keeps the prisoners tame and renders any powers they may have useless." Oberon explains.
We walk down the corridor of cells. There are lots of people behind the doors. We walk about 8 doors down and I see a familiar face. It's Lana. I stop at her door and proceed to walk towards it. "Luna, you cannot go in there." said Oberon. I dart my eyes at him. "And why not?"
"Your intentions are understood, but we cannot allow you to kill a prisoner after their sentence has been given. She will be banished from all wolf packs and become rogue. That is her punishment. You must respect that." Now I just want to rip his head off too. But Roman comes to my side and wraps his big arms around my belly and kisses my shoulder, and calms me down almost instantly.
"Fine." I walk away from the door, but not without looking into it again to see Lana staring back at me with a deathly glare. "Here we are. Alpha Roman, I must advise you as I did your Luna. You must not harm the prisoner. His fate has been sealed and will be carried out at dawn." Roman nods his head without a word, then Oberon orders one of the guards to open the door.
"It is safe to enter, even in your delicate condition. The enchantment of this place leaves him without his power. Not to mention, he is weakened from his physical ailment. He can do you no harm, so don't be afraid." I look at Oberon before stepping in. "I'm not."
I take a step into the white room and there is nothing but a bed and a chair. I see Cesar's frail body sitting on the edge of the bed looking down at a book. He slowly looks up at me and a smile crosses his face. "Little One? Is that you?" he said in a strained voice. I nodded.
He placed the book down and struggled to his feet. "It is so good to see you one last time." He examined me with his eyes and zeroed in on my growing baby bump. "You're having a baby! Congratulations." He tried to hug me, but I stepped back.
"You almost killed my baby. I was pregnant when you started trying to suck the life from me." I spit the words at him as I remembered what he tried to do. He smile disappeared. "I will never be able to tell you how sorry I am. I was weak. I was afraid of death. But now after realizing the pain and torment I caused you, I welcome it." I stared at him for a moment, then sat down in the chair across from him.
"Being afraid of death is no excuse for betraying your friends in such a way." I rubbed my belly when I began feeling the baby moving around. "I know, Little One. And my fate has been sealed. I will die in the morning. But I will die knowing that my daughter will not suffer the same fate. I will also be happy that I was able to see you again- to see you evolve and grow. It was an honor to know you, my dear Little One."
Tears began to fell from my eyes. It hurt me to see him so fragile and sick. It hurt me to know he was the one who almost destroyed me. "I trusted you." my voice cracking with my sorrow. "I trusted you and you betrayed me. How could you?" I let the tears flow and my cries came out in a scream. My hands started shaking because of the sadness that washed over me.
Cesar's own tears began to coat his cheeks. "Why me? Why did it have to be me?" I covered my face with my hands and balled. I don't know if it was a combination of my hormones from being pregnant and my actual feelings towards Cesar, but I cried hard in front of him. "I wish I could take it all back, Little One. I wish I never did those horrible things and just accepted my fate. At least I would still have your love."
I looked up at him, slowly, then stood to my feet. "I do love you, Old Man." I said in barely a whisper. He walked to me and pulled me into a hug. The tears began to fall once more. "I'm so so very sorry, Little One." he said softly. The door suddenly swung open and Roman stood there, his eyes were full of hatred.
I looked up at Cesar and gave him a half smile before stepping away from him and towards my husband. Roman looked down at me as I touched his chest, then I stepped passed him to walk out the door. The guard closed the door behind Roman, and I stood there next to Oberon for a moment, thinking.
"I wish to speak to Lana. I will not harm her." I demanded. Oberon gave me a puzzled look before speaking. "I do not think that is a good idea, Luna Symone. You are in a delicate condition and she is a sharp tongued woman. She could upset you and make you do something that-"
"No one can make me do anything!" I raised my voice. I took a deep breath, then continued. "I only wish to speak to her to give her a message. That is all. I will not be long." Oberon stared into me for a moment, then walked to Lana's cell with me.
"Open this cell." he demanded of one of the guards. The door was opened and I stepped inside. "What do you want, b***h?" She turned to look at me. "Oh so you got knocked up, huh? Of course. The only way a lowly human like you could keep an alpha like Roman is by getting pregnant. It's probably not even his baby, you whore."
I stared at her for a moment in silence, then I laughed. "I came here to give you a friendly warning. You step anywhere near me or mine again, and I will place your head on my mantle as a trophy." I smiled at her, then turned to walk out the door.
"Roman is an incredible lover. He is so passionate and rough at the same time. The way he touched me? Mmm. I can still feel his tongue on my-" I jumped on Lana and slammed her head to the ground, pushing down on her throat with my forearm. "Go ahead. Say something else. I'll rip your throat out." I said between my teeth as she gasped for air. "Night Fire! Her words are just that- words! Do not give her that power over you. You are better than that- better than her!"
I heard my mentor's voice echo it's power behind me. I felt a big warm hand on my shoulder and turned to see my husband standing behind me. "Let her go babe. She is not worth this energy. You have to think about what this stress can do to you and our baby."
I look back down at Lana and she is still gasping for air. I stand up and Roman envelops me with his large, strong body. I let him lead me out of the room and my eyes meet Master Altair's. "You must remember that words cannot hurt you, but your own actions can. Now I understand your frustration with her. She tried to take what was rightfully yours and then tormented your for days. But she is being punished another way."
Altair placed his hands on my shoulders. "If she becomes a threat to you, then you and Roman can take appropriate actions against her. However, nothing will be done while she is here in the council's custody." I lower my head and nod. "I am sorry. I let her meaningless words get the better of me and I shouldn't have."
Oberon patted my arm and smiled. "Luna, you have been through a out. And it has been a long day. Are you hungry? My wife makes the best chocolate chip cookies you've ever tasted in your entire life." I giggled at him and he lead us out of the bright prison, back up the stairs for a snack.
