Chapter Five
Twice the following week, Samantha and Joel had to forego the five o’clock sessions, and it seemed that all but one of the three they managed was rushed by circumstances beyond their control. Daddy was returning from London and the entire sales department was on report to have everything in perfect order before he arrived. There would be a board meeting the following week, for the express purpose of discussing the recent dip in sales. This was Samantha’s specific concern. Though she’d recouped some of the losses early in the quarter, it was not yet enough to make up for the downturn she figured most would consider her fault. She and Joel worked extra hours to cement a deal that would add a positive spin on the numbers, but she was certain it wasn’t enough to make anyone happy
