Today wasn’t exactly the best day but I was dealing with my frustration well. The longer I kept solar with me, I was at risk. The drug was harmful and illegal. If I was caught with it, there’s no telling what would happen.
I had dream enough attention to myself already and if the Don or his men found it in my possession, they would dig deeper into my life,
Lada was not having breakfast on her room today. The family was having a meal together and that was one of the reasons I was annoyed.
I wanted to begin Lada’s dose today. Another time. I told myself.
Colton passed me in the corridor today and tried to give me an intimidating stare but I looked at him dead in the eye until he looked away. Good for him.
If he were smart, he would avoid me and not try anything stupid. I would ruin him instantly.
I lifted the washed linens with my good hand and walked to Ladas bedroom. I wasn’t looking properly when I bumped into somebody.
I groaned and bit my tongue before I lashed out in anger.
“It’s you” I looked at Faddei.
I ignored him and bent to pick up the linens with my good hand. He knelt with me and helped me carry them.
“Why are you working when you have an injured hand?”
“It’s what I’m paid to do”
“Not when you’re hurt. Have you seen the doctor?”
“I’m fine” I tried to take the linens from him and continue to her bedroom but he stopped me.
“I’ll help you take this to where you are going and after that I’ll take you to the doctor”
“There will be no need for that”
“It’s a command” I looked at him for a moment, sighed and moved along. He chuckled Klee and walked behind me. I opened the door and stood by the side so he could enter.
“I should be the one doing that for you” he said as he entered the room.
I rolled my eyes and entered too.
“Give them to me. I’ll put them where they are meant to be” I reached out to take them from him but he moved back.
“Tell me where to keep them” I pointed to the door of the closet and he went inside. He came out a few minute later.
“Thank you” I turned to leave the rim but he caught my arms. His grip was tight but not hurting.
“We are going to the hospital”
“No need. My friend wrapped it up for me. It’s fine now”
“Consider it as payback for helping you” I sighed but follows him. We walked side by side as we went to the hospital.
“You intrigued me that day in Adriks office. Tell me about yourself”
I groaned. “Did your brother put you up to this?” I asked.
“What…No. No nothing like that. Why would my brother……”
“Never mind” I said quickly.
“So tell me about yourself”
“There’s nothing to tell”
“Of course there is. Tell me something about your family or your hobbies”
“I have no family and I’m a maid, i don’t have hobbies” I walked ahead of him and he didn’t try to stop me or ask me any questions until we got to the hospital.
Because if his influence, we were able to see the doctor immediately.
He unwrapped the bandage and looked at the bruises on my knuckle. He studied me from behind his glasses.
“Are you new here?”
“No” I said simply.
“How did you sustain this injury?”
I looked at Faddei.
“Kirill”
“It’s protocol. Abuse and fights are not tolerated”
“She got injured while training with me”
“When did the maids begin….”
“It is an order Kirill” he said in a low voice cutting of the doctor.
Dr.Kirill nodded and began to clean my wounds. Just as he was wrapping it up, there was a loud bang outside.
The emergency bells rang and they quickly left the room. I stood up and followed after them.
They were rushing in a patient. This was a private hospital on the Kamenev property so I’m guessing it’s one of the workers or a member of the family who was injured.
I watched as they rushed him into the emergency room.
“What are you doing here” I looked up at the man who was coming my way. I’ve seen him a few times around the property and mostly around the Don.
I held up my bandaged fist and showed it to him.
“What happened” he asked.
“Nothing” I tried to move away but he blocked my path.
He stared at me straight in the Shetland I stared back refusing to back down from this contest.
“What is going on here?” That cold deadly voice again. s**t. I tore my haze away from the man before me and looked at the don.
His expression unreadable as he stared intently at us.
I moved back and remained silent.
“I was just asking her what she was doing in here”
The don looked at me and I shivered under his intense stare.
“Well….what are you doing here?”
I lifted my injured fist.
“Words woman” he said calmly.
“I…”
“She is with me” Faddei interrupted as he walked to me and pulled me into him.
Adrik looked between us as if trying to decipher some hidden secret.
“Kirill just entered for surgery. You should freshen up. I’ll escort the lady back to her quarters” Faddei placed his hand at my lower back and led me out of the hospital.
I kept my head up and ignored the burning stare of Adrik as we walked away.
“Thank you” I said to Faddei when we get back into the house.
He was smiling at me and I was a it confused.
“I hope we I can see you again”
“I’m afraid you can’t. I am a maid and you are my boss. We shouldn’t be seeing each other” I nodded at him and made my way inside.
Lada and her daughters planned to enjoy drinks outside today. Maybe I could finally get something done.
