Lilith placed the tray of food in front of the two males as she gave her usual business smile. She could sense that they weren't humans.
'Maybe demons' she thought.
Before she moved to the mortal realm she had never come across another immortal, being surrounded by fae all her life. Her Wiccan mother was the closest she’d ever been to a different race but all that had changed since coming here.
Her ebony coloured hair was braided to cover the pointed tips of her ears but these males would probably be able to sense she wasn't human. One of them smiled at her, he had platinum blonde hair and blue eyes that reminded her a lot of a certain sorcerer. She bowed her head and walked away
Ever since she got to this realm she’d come across different types of immortals. It was a lot for the Fae princess who had never left her home to adjust to. She was lucky enough to meet her present employer s***h mentor, a witch who looked no older than twenty-six but was actually over a millennium old.
Eve had found the girl passed out in front of a portal located in the Arctic. Lilith was obviously underdressed and suffered from frostbite. As she wasn’t of age yet, something as minuscule as extreme cold could actually kill her. If it wasn't for Eve, Lilith would be dead and for this, the girl showed great appreciation to the witch. She owed her life to the witch.
At first, Eve wondered if she should ask what frightened the girl so much to leave her home for an unfamiliar land, and after some months of taking care of Lilith, she finally asked. Octavier was one of the most powerful sorceri to ever live, so powerful that even an entire coven of powerful witches wouldn't be able to stand a chance against him. It was no wonder a Fae king had fallen so easily.
It was unfortunate that he had picked an interest in Lilith though, because one way or another he would get her back. Eve was taking a huge risk by taking the girl in but she did nonetheless, she couldn't understand why but she felt a sense of kinship to the girl.
Two years had passed since then, Lilith was now twenty-three and was starting to show signs of her transition.
From birth to a certain stage of their lives all immortals are vulnerable to death, in other words; mortal. This is until they come of age and transition into full immortals. Until Lilith completes her transition she's still mortal and extremely vulnerable. She was basically a human with magic and pointy ears.
Other than her unusually pointy ears, Lilith looked human so it wasn't too hard for her to blend in with others. However, it wasn't as easy for her to adjust from being a spoilt princess to working for her needs. Lilith who had never lifted her own plate before now served customers who walked into the restaurant. She had a roof over her head and a source of income, it couldn't compare to her life at the palace but she was grateful.

"I tell ya, that one is a beauty!" Asher continued to rave about the Fae female he saw in a restaurant he’d recently visited. Now Dion was being forced to accompany him to ‘snag’ said female. “I’m not usually a fan of the fae because they seem too fragile but the body on this one has me willing to forget principle.” Though Dion didn't mind his friend, Asher was a lot to handle sometimes and it was so hard to say no to him. More often than not, Dion ended up getting strung along by the wolf.
Asher tended to exaggerate a bit so Dion doubted the fae could really be as remarkable as the wolf claimed she was.
They currently approached a large building that had a giant sign reading 'Eve's'
To immortals, this place was known to be owned by a witch although it wasn't exclusively for immortals. Humans were regular customers at the place so it wasn't a place where immortals could act as they pleased.
Asher spoke to the lady at the front desk about their reservation and soon they were led to their table. A waiter dressed in a white button-up shirt and black trousers approached them and after a few words with Asher, the waiter nodded and left. Moments later, a female dressed similarly to the waiter returned.
Beautiful black hair was braided over ears as though to hide them and Dion quickly realized this was the fae Asher had spoken of. The fae were known for their elven features, pointy ears, and delicately beautiful appearances.
She had high cheekbones and a slender face with plump pink lips that could make any man's mind grow clouded with dark thoughts. Despite her striking features, Dion was captivated by the gray eyes that stared down at him through thick lashes. 'A beauty' he thought inwardly. Asher was absolutely right about that. In fact, beauty didn’t seem to do her justice.
"Welcome to Eve's, I'll be attending to you this evening." She had what looked like a practiced business smile and it made him wonder what an actual smile would look like on her. "What would the gentlemen like to eat today?" She had only said a few words but he was sure her voice had become his next favorite thing, only second to her eyes.
"And what would the pretty lady suggest?" Asher asked with his usual flirty smile that women couldn't help but swoon over. This elicited an unconscious growl from Dion's throat. Asher shot him an inquisitive glance at the action.
She proceeded to tell them about the day's special and suggested some other things to them. Once they had decided, she wrote down their orders in the notepad she held and informed them their meals would be delivered soon. With a smile, she walked away and Dion's eyes were trained on the curve of her ass as she walked away. The pencil skirt she wore clung like a second skin to her curves and he could barely keep himself from letting out another growl at the sight.
"A fine ass on her right?" Dion wasn't the only one who stared at her as she walked away, Asher also had his eyes trained on her backside as she walked away.
Asher had a suspicion but he wasn't going to say anything about it until he was positive. The demon getting so riled up was an unusual sight and if Asher was right about this, the next words he uttered would evoke the rage of a Plaxus demon but how could he possibly pass on a chance to get under the demon's skin? "If I play my cards right, I'll have her in my bed by the end of the day."
SNAP!
The sides of their table crumbled under Dion's grip. There mere thought of her bedding another male enraged him to no end. A fury like he’d never known before. Like a ton of bricks, the realisation hit him just then. There was only one possible reason for him to have such an extreme reaction.
She was his mate.
The sole female fate had made for him. He glanced back to where he last saw her but she had disappeared into a room. The victorious smirk on Asher's face told him he wasn't the only one who figured out what she was to him.
With his hands in the air Asher started, "Easy, I was only trying to confirm my suspicions and I guess I was right." he laughed "I wouldn't endanger myself by getting between a demon and his mate so you can calm down. Watch your eyes."
Dion hadn't realized his eyes had begun changing with the rage he felt. He took a deep breath and tried to steady himself.
She was his mate.
She was what Olivia was to Malcom. Would he ever get to experience a relationship like theirs?
Just because fate made her for him didn't mean their relationship would flourish. He had seen mates who despised each other and such was usually the issue between different species. Not many out there would be thrilled about the idea of having a demon for a mate.
Would she even want him?
She didn't seem to feel the pull he felt to her. The thought of her rejection formed a lump in his throat and only then did he realize how much he had craved to meet his mate. But how could he not when he was forced to watch Malcom and Olivia? Dion craved what they shared.
She returned some minutes after with a trolley covered with plates. She placed the dishes in front of them and when she bent to place a plate in front of him, her scent hit him like a rock. She smelled strongly of herbs but he picked up a light scent of roses. Her natural scent. She was driving him crazy without even knowing it. A lock of hair fell forward and it took everything in him not to brush the hair out of her face.
"Enjoy your meal." She smiled and walked away.
"Well aren't you glad I brought you here" Asher mocked as Dion stared at her retreating figure. He caught other men leering as she passed by them and he ground his teeth in anger.
'They're staring at what's mine'
He would scoop out each and every one of their eyeballs for staring at her like that if he could. Throughout their meal, his gaze wandered towards her the moment he felt her presence. She served other customers and he hated the way males stared at her. The food he ate must've been delicious but he couldn't focus on the taste. He couldn't focus on anything but her. When they were done Asher waved for the bill and she came over with it.
This time Dion took notice of how her shirt seemed too small to contain the large mounds on her chest. It surprised him how he hadn't noticed this earlier. Her name tag read Lilith and he smiled at the knowledge.
'Her name is Lilith'
He wanted to try talking to her but he couldn't seem to form words. Each time he attempted he only ended up fumbling his words. While Asher seemed to have it easy making small talk with her. As if to make fun of him, Asher would glance in his direction with a smirk while he spoke with Lilith.
He had never been shy around women yet with her he couldn't even string together coherent sentences.
Asher would never let him live this down.
And just as he’d expected, from the exit of the restaurant, all the way to Dion's car Asher had laughed uncontrollably.
"If anyone had told me you would stutter like a virgin lad in front of ye female I would never believe it!" his accent had become more pronounced as he laughed. "I thought I'd seen it all!"
"Get out of my car, find your own way home." The lykae had pulled his last straw. Dion drove off and left the shocked werewolf behind.
