The green double doors had etched glass panels, three to a section. The doors boasted twin wreaths, redolent of dried flowers and herbs. Bear parked the SUV and put his hand on Brian’s arm, and all Brian could do was stare. Prince Studly Charming lived in the castle of his dreams. He had to shake his head to bring his attention back to the reality of his real position in life. Brian sat in the passenger seat numb with grief. It all hit him again. His obligation to his mother, his own dreams crumbling before he could reach out for a crumb from the table, job loss, pain…He tried to get out of the car, but his feet collapsed under him.
