Maureen's POV After Lance left, we were both silent. Mum was turned away from me as if she didn't want to look at me. 'Mum I am sorry,' I said, not knowing exactly how to start the discussion. I know that is why you hate me and you don't want to have anything to do with me,' I explained. 'Why would you say I hate you? Hate is a very strong word,' she said. 'I have never felt loved by you. All you have ever done is leave me to the care of the maids and Lance. I had always wondered why you were never like every other mother but now I know better, I do not blame you mum.
