'Is there something I need to know?' Lucia asked from behind me. Her voice startled me.
'You startled me,' I said and turned to face her.
We were in one of the store rooms in Alpha Amman's house. Our duty was to make sure that the soldiers divided the grains to the people accordingly.
'Of course you will be startled since your mind has been obviously wandering since we got here,' Lucia said.
