CHAPTER 4 - TEXTING MILO

3694 Words
NARRATOR'S POV  "How in the world did we swap phones?" Lindy exclaims over the line sounding like it was the end of the world when she does not even have any single idea how many girls would want to be in her shoes right now. Firstly, Milo Beckett called her. Secondly, she is talking to Milo Beckett. Thirdly, she swapped phones with Milo Beckett. And most importantly, she is still going to be talking more often with Milo freaking Beckett. She pulled herself out from her bed rapidly and begins to walk to and from across her bedroom with her palm pressed against her forehead. She kept on thinking of ways on how the hell they swapped phones but she could only think about Nando’s. “Nando’s is the root of all evil.” She says over the phone making Milo laugh. “This is seriously not a funny thing to laugh about!” Milo presses his lips together as he push his hair off his forehead, “I’m sorry. It’s just that you sound...” He trailed off. “I sound what?” Lindy quickly asked snappily. “You sound really adorable when you’re panicking.” Milo answers with a smile on his face as he begins to board the plane on his way back to England. Lindy gapes as she didn’t like what she heard from him. “Adorable? Is this some kind of a joke to you? We swapped phones and that is totally not okay.” He groans as he sits over plane seat waiting for the other lads to arrive. “I don’t know how often this situation happens to someone, maybe you just got lucky.” Lindy laughs humorlessly as she placed her hands over her hips, “Just got lucky? Are you being utterly serious right now? What’s the luck in having your phone swapped with some stranger?” Milo pauses while rubbing his chin with his finger, “You’re right.” “Where are you now anyways?” Lindy asks, hoping the man she is talking to is still in Canada. Milo sees Jasper entering the plane looking like he just rolled out from his bed. He chuckles at Jasper, “No sleep Jas?” he asked as he covers the phone with his huge hand. Lindy’s brows creasing, “Hello?” She calls out and hear all muffled words from the man's background. “Hello???” She calls out again but no answer. Jasper groans as he takes his seat, “I stayed up late because I got busy playing videos games with Silas since we got back the hotel. I just fell asleep an hour ago when Lucius came to my room waking the hell outta me.” Milo chuckles as he glances at Silas who just arrived and looked much more worst than Jasper. “The guy’s dead.” Jasper adds. “Hello! Is anyone still there? Am I still talking to someone?” Lindy keeps calling out but she only hears covered laughter and voices from the other line. Milo pulled the phone back to his ear as he hear the female voice from the phone, “Hey, I’m sorry I was talking to someone.” He said politely as he walks to the lavatory while looking over his shoulders back at Silas and Jasper who are now trying to sleep on their chairs. “Where were we babe?” Milo asks as he enters the lavatory since he didn’t want the others to know what he got himself into. Lindy groans, “You have to be serious with this. I need to get my phone back from you! And will you please? Stop. Calling. Me. Babe!” Milo feels the woman getting annoyed but still can’t help teasing her since she does not know who he really was. “I apologize.” He was quick to say. “I am serious too. I do need to get my phone back as well. What did you ask earlier?” “I asked you where you are. Maybe we can meet up tomorrow and exchange our phones back.” Milo scratches the back of his neck, “Aw geez. I… I don’t think I can tomorrow.” Lindy’s face winced, “What?” “Well babe I am at the airport now heading back to London.” Her mouth forms into a big O, “You’re on a what heading to where?” Milo stops himself from laughing again by pressing his forefinger over the line of his pressed lips. He lowered his head as he stares at his boots. “Yup.” He answers while popping the p. Another annoying thing he’s doing that Lindy’s beginning to hate, “London.” Milo adds. “You can't leave with my phone with you!" She exclaims as she falls to her bed. "Well I hate to leave my phone with you too but I have no choice." He answers as a matter-of-fact but a part of him kind of liked what he got himself into. She sighed deeply as she scratched her hair repeatedly on the same spot. Lindy thinks thoroughly on how to get her phone from the man he has no idea who yet she knows heading to London would be too expensive and she does not have a penny for it. She remained silent and covered her face with her fist over her eyes. "How come I just noticed this now that this isn't even my phone?” She moans sounding like she was about to cry which worries the softhearted Milo Beckett. “Are you crying?” He asks concernedly. “Don’t worry. I will give your phone back.” Lindy did not answer and so Milo decided to call out, “Have you fallen asleep on me?” “No.” Lindy answers. “I’m just really sad how I didn’t even check the phone as soon as I got it from Nando’s. I would have the time to return it.” Milo nods because he didn’t check the phone too and went to sleep the moment he got back to the hotel. “I thought the lads changed the wallpaper or Lou was pulling some pranks on me but when I saw the contacts, it really wasn't my mine." She didn’t listen to what he was saying and was thinking and worrying about what she’s involved in right now. She’s worried this might be some prank or some trick to get her kidnapped even though it made no sense how she came up with that conclusion. "When are you coming back?" she asked without minding what he was saying to her.  "I'll be back a week or two."  "A what?!" She exclaimed.  "I said about a week or--"  "A week is too long enough, you need to be back. ASAP." She instructed him.  “Or a few months.” Lindy leans over her knees with her left hand holding her head. “I think I’m getting a headache thinking about that.” She says to him. "I’m sorry dear but I'm a busy man." Milo answers truthfully though he also wants his phone back but he has no choice.  He knows his schedule is ready and all set weeks from the present time and he cant just slip in a little phone exchange in his busy celebrity life which is always fully booked for appointments, shows, pictorials, interviews and promotions. Even if he can ask someone to go back to Canada to get his phone from this lady with a sweet adorable voice, he would not let anyone do it but him. He’s been taught well in the industry that it’s hard to trust someone and that he can only depend on himself because people around him are only after him for his fame and money. "I feel like the whole world is crumbling beneath my feet.” She sounded annoying to him now as he exists the lavatory doing nothing but just standing there. He stands away from the others who have now boarded the plane. Lindy keeps hitting her forehead and feels like she wanted to cry as she remained silent. Milo stands by the lavatory, leaning his back against the wall. "Still there babe?" He asked, awkwardly while scratching the back of his head, glancing at the flight attendant who is now giving neck pillows to Jasper. "I already told you to stop calling me babe! It's annoying. I'm not a pet!" She cries out.  Milo smiles at himself with his head lowered a little bit. He hasn’t found a woman who’s feisty like the woman in the other line. He knows that if it were other ladies being called babe, they would love it and they would fall for it but it didn’t have any effect to her. He found her amusing with how she rants and yells at him so easily just like that, treating him more human and not as a damn celebrity. He was still hesitant that she didn’t know him but he knows well enough that no girl in the world would dare to ever yell at him aside from his own mother or sister.  "No. I hate to say this but I'm afraid I can’t stop calling you that, babe." He grins as he teases as he walks back to his chair to sit down. “You might need to turn off your phone now sir because we are going to take off now.” The flight attendant tells Milo professionally. He nods, “Alright. I’ll just finish this call. Thanks.” She smiles at Milo before walking away. Lindy overheard it and she knows that she has nothing left to do but let the man she just knew take care of her phone for her sake. Milo covers the phone with his hand as he whispers to Lindy, "I'll call you back when I land babe."   "Hey you didn't--"  He ended the call right before she could say anything to him.  "--Even tell me your name." She continued. Sighing at herself.  She glanced at her watch, it was almost 3AM and worried at how she would fall back to sleep knowing that her phone was swapped by a strange who is heading to London. "How can I be so careless? I've never been careless! How in the world did I have his phone instead of mine? How can I be in such a bad luck?" She mumbled to herself.  She groans as she lays over her bed. "Even the thought of him touching my phone makes me hate him! Even more when he calls me babe!" She pulled her blanket and placed his phone down on the drawer beside her bed and fell back to sleep.  On the other hand, Milo grabbed his little notebook out and his pen since he had words that popped into his head out of nowhere that he didn’t want to forget so he wrote it down as fast as he could before it disappears. Making little conversations so long I’ve been waiting so let go of myself and feel alive As soon as Lindy heard her alarm clock go crazy, she hurriedly turned it off and pulled herself out from the mattress. It was already six in the morning and she realized that she hasn't had enough sleep because of her constant thoughts on her swapped phones with a male stranger. She stretched her arms out before she folded and fixed her bed sheets then went to take a shower.  After a while, Lindy got into her clothes, placed her books inside her bag while carrying Avery's done homework on her hands. Lindy headed to Avery's room and Lindy knows that her evil twin will do or say something that will hurt her ego even if it's still too early in the morning. She’s ready for Avery’s words though.  Knock knock knock  "Avery. Here are your books." Lindy calls out but there was no answer.  Knock knock knock knock knock louder this time.  "Avery!" She called out.  Finally the door opened and Avery grabbed her books from Lindy's arms with all the gloomy face plastered on her evil twin sister’s face. Avery was obviously not done with her make up and her hair. Lindy smiled at her but Avery rolled her eyes and slammed the door in front of her face.  "Yeah, you're welcome." Lindy muttered. “And I guess no hurtful words today huh.”  She rushed downstairs for breakfast and kissed her mother and father's cheeks good morning. Lindy was just a typical high school who doesn't wanna stand out from the crowd and has no plan in getting anyone’s attention. She doesn't wanna do anything to change her lifestyle because she knows the people around her will only make fun of her that's why she stays who she is. Lindy sees Avery walking off the stairs looking so fabulous and sexy as ever and showing more skin than her but then Lindy doesn't even care if her twin looked more of a hoe-bag than her.  Avery walked directly to the foyer without even calling Lindy's attention. Avery drives the car to school and she's just mean making Lindy chase her just so she knows she's superior.   "Avery wait for me!" Lindy called out.  Lindy ran out of the front door after giving her parents a kiss goodbye and hurriedly got inside the passenger seat. Avery turned on the engine and drove their way to school like the usual. So basically, Avery drives the car as much as she wants to because she doesn't let Lindy drive and uses the car all for her selfish reasons. Lindy does have a driver's license but Avery doesn't want to share the car with her. As soon as they got to school, Lindy got off and thanked Avery who just left without a word. Lindy grabbed the straps of her backpack and walked her way to the main building and have her first class, Literature. "Class, to page 35." Mrs. Fletcher said.  LUNCH Lindy is usually alone when Martha isn't around. Martha's always absent and they don't have same classes now that they were Seniors so they barely see each other. She sat down on a table where no one sits because they said it was basically the loser's table since it was near the trash bins. She saw Avery on the popular's table, the usual spot for the Queen Bee. She was with her other slutty cheerleader pretentious friends and the jocks who plays for the school's football team. They were the popular cool kids in the campus. That's Ted, he's the school's QB and he's Avery's cheating boyfriend. She's too oblivious about the things Ted has done behind her back. He's also a senior and everyone thinks they're meant to be because he's as bully and as mean as Avery.  "Oh god, they're French kissing in public right now. How can I have such a slutty twin?" Lindy thought to herself while looking away. Suddenly her phone beeped over the table and got a message from her number and of course she knew who it was. Unknown Number: Hello babe. I promised I’ll message you when I land. How's my phone? I hope it's still alive :)  "Oh, so here's this guy again." She thought angrily to herself as she stares at the message. "If you just don't have my phone with you I could've destroyed yours." Lindy mutters to herself.  She saves her own number on the stranger's phone and Milo has saved his own number in her phone too. He received a text from her while he sips his hot cup of tea. Girl Who Has My Phone: Oh please don’t worry, your phone is absolutely fine. STRANGER WITH AN ACCENT: Well your phone's with someone with great hands ;) By the way, what's your name babe? I didn't get it a while ago.  Lindy took a spoonful of food from her lunch while staring at the guy's text for a while. She munches as she realizes that she doesn't quite trust this guy on telling him her name but then Lindy thought that he'll eventually know sooner or later since he has her phone and all her messages were there.  Girl Who Has My Phone: Lindy. Hbu?  “Lindy.” He says as a smile creeps on his face. “What a sweet sweet name.” It took Milo a couple of minutes to reply too because he was thinking what possible name he could be using so he won't be figured out that he is indeed the world famous Milo Beckett. Lindy takes a long sip from her juice while staring at the phone on top of the table since he appears to be typing on the other line. STRANGER WITH AN ACCENT: Millard. But you can call me Mill.  He wanted to keep it old school. Lindy burst into laughter sitting all alone on her table. Lindy: What a name. I bet you're a smelly forty year old dude. No offense, rhymes with lizard. Lol.  Mill: You know babe, you might want to rethink of insulting the person that is holding your phone and who you are texting with.  Lindy: Calm down oldie. That was obviously a joke!  Mill: Yeah like says the one who only have 47 contacts on their phone. Now who's a 40.  Lindy: Ha! At least I have 47, unlike you. You only even have 12 contacts on your phone. Now who's a loser?  "Shit.” He curses under his breath while fumbling on his phone. “She does have the other one with my private special contacts." Milo whispers while he was waiting in the music studio.  "Who's got what Mill?" Jasper asked as he enters the studio. Milo moved his head to Jasper when he didn’t even know his bandmate had entered the studio. He needed to find a good excuse which is believable. "Nothing." Milo said with a smile.  Silas glanced at Jasper before staring back at Milo , "Are you okay man?" "Yeah 'course." Milo answered quickly as he pressed sent. Mill: Let's see, who can I send my dirty naked pictures to? How about Aunt Claire? Cousin Martin? Uncle Rudy? Mom? Or this one that says Dad? :)  Milo grinned as soon as he sees Lindy typing back. Lindy: GRRRRR!! Don't you even think about sending pictures to anyone!!!!!! I swear to God if you will I am most definitely going to break your phone! Milo laughs softly at himself making the other lads look at him weirdly.  Mill: Wow, I didn't know you could growl. I hope I was there to be able to hear it personally babe ;)  Lindy sighs heavily. "Perv." She mutters.  Lindy: SHUT UP PERVERT Milo’s eyes widened while chuckling under his throat, “Me? I am nowhere near that word.” Mill: No offense taken. It was you who started it first, sexy tigress. Grrr. Milo placed in a tiger emoticon while he smiles. Lindy: Pet names! Stop giving me pet names! It's not even funny! Whatever Millard. Even your name screams old. LMFAO.  Milo grins. ”Feisty. Feisty.” Jasper gazes at Silas when Milo keeps speaking to himself looking like a high school boy busy texting on his phone. Mill: If I am indeed old, that means I'm most well experienced ;)  Lindy gaped, "Definitely a pervert."  Lindy: EW! Don't forget I have your phone too! Maybe I could send some nudes to Gwyneth? Or maybe Lou Tdale? How about Momma Twist?  Milo bites his lower lips briefly and said to himself, "That's more like it."  Silas laughs but Milo was too focused on texting and teasing Lindy. “What the hell is happening to this kid?” Lois asks as he gestures to Milo who was still busy. Mill: That would be so nice baby. Go on. Suit yourself. I won't stop you from taking nudes. But be sure to save it so I can see it later okay babe? Or maybe send it to me right now ;)  Lindy typed her message angrily as she press her fingers on his phone.  Lindy: YOU ARE SO DISGUSTING!!! You're a p*****t! You are a disgusting pig! Find someone who is going to entertain your perverted mind! Get away from me!  Milo chuckles all of a sudden in the studio while he was focused on his phone. “Wow pig, disgusting and pervert.”  Silas, Rowan, Jasper and Lucius stared at each other while glancing at a smiling Milo . But he was more focused on the phone that was on his hand than noticing the other lads who just arrived. "Now what's wrong with that guy over there?" Rowan asks the other lads.  "Yeah. Suddenly he gets so busy on his phone. He is not a texter that much,” Lucius says a fact. "Is there a new game out on App Store Jasper?" Silas asked curiously, the ever addicted to games. "I don't think he's playing a game." Jasper answered while the four of them still glued their eyes at Milo who is all smiles and unbothered typing on a phone. “Typing on his phone. Not caring about his surroundings. Continuous smiles on his face. Laughing on his own. Definitely a woman.” Lucius adds. “Definitely.” Jasper pressed his lips together while nodding.
