16Shelling PeasLooking for a place to sell the camera, Tazia found herself down a side street in Rome. It wasn’t near anything that would interest the standard tourist and was considered of no real value to anyone but the locals. The street was typically medieval in style. Tall narrow townhouses, fashioned from large cream blockwork, stretched along each side of a cobbled pavement only wide enough for one vehicle to drive down at a time. Laundry hung from washing lines stretched between the balconies of opposite houses. It flapped gently above her, finding the slight breeze that remained despite the warm day. Rome was largely safe from the ravages of demons. There were plenty here, but they didn’t seek to cause problems with the local human population, not with the occupants of Vatican C
