Chapter 9After Daniel was gone, I got busy with chores around the house to keep from going crazy. I took a good look at the place and didn’t like what I seen, so I went and got some paint and lumber down at the Village and spent the rest of the day replacing rotten planks and painting the outside of the little house. It looked like a different place, but it didn’t do anything for my frame of mind. After a long bath, I slicked up in my best jeans and Cherokee ribbon shirt and black boots, crowned off by a black hat with a beaded hatband. I knew the gals would like what they saw, and that’s just what I wanted. I wanted tonight to be a special night for Daniel, and the best way to do that was to be my own natural self.
