Chapter 1

1231 Words
Agatha's POV When I was out in Japan, Tokyo presenting a business to the contractors, I heard a rumor that my sister was going to get married. I'd hurriedly put a call to her but when she replied, I didn't get the full picture of what I wanted to hear from her so I immediately booked a flight home after winning a million-dollar deal from a contractor. So here I was in flight city. Venue of my sister's wedding. Brimming with delight and wonder. I stepped out of my car in my red delicate dress. Lips well-painted and my fingers well manicured. Today was my sister's wedding and I wanted to grace her happy occasion with my presence. “Hello,” I smiled at some visitors who I vaguely recognised from work, my hands up in a wave to some, while others got a nod. I got some side looks which I ignored. “I can believe she has the nerve to come here,” I heard a visitor say out loud causing me to fume internally in my mind but I didn't say a thing out loud. Why stress myself about outsiders? I came here for my sister and that was about it. I was not going to ruin my mood because of people who didn't even know about my family. While I was frolicking in immense confidence, I didn't notice a waiter coming towards me untill I was bumped into, and juice fell onto the top of my dress and splattered down to the ends of my feet. I gasped, feeling all eyes on me for a moment. It was an embarrassing moment yes— my childish thoughts soon came to a halt when I saw my sister standing on the podium in her flowing white dress with her groom who wore white-flanned tuxedo suit. My smile disappeared from my eyes and my heart began to beat really fast when I paid a closer attention to the groom. It was Leo, my husband. Goosebumps filled my skin and my shoulders faltered, the pride in my heart reducing drastically. “Leo?!” I called out loud unashamedly through the congregation. This was my husband. How could he stand toe to toe with my sister while we were still married?! Didn't he have an iota of shame left in him?! The priest who was leading the wedding ceremony looked a little embarrassed by my outrage but I didn't care. I stepped up the podium and grabbed Leo by the right hand and looked him dead in the eyes. “We need to talk,” I was about to lead him outside the wedding ceremony hall but he did not move an inch. “No,” he said indignantly, causing my heart to drop. “What do you mean no? Do you have any idea what you are saying? How could you be my sister's groom, have you lost it?!” I held tightly against his hand but he didn't move. “Please…” I was almost desperate. “Agatha what are you doing?” It was my mother’s voice I was hearing. She stood out from the crowd and headed towards me on the podium. She snatched my hand from where it was tightly latching onto Leo. My eyes widened at that. “Mom, can't you see what's going on? Leo is getting married to my sister! Can't you see that?!” I said harshly. “I can.” Came her calm response. “But you can't blame him for that. You've been married to him for more than two years but haven't managed to get pregnant. Do you think a man like him can continue to stay married with a barren? What more, Lucia is pregnant with his child.” My heart started to race and my insides felt too heavy for me to carry. Lucia was pregnant for my husband?! I felt shock from what she said but I did not stand back immediately. “Mom, are you supporting Lucia's marriage with Leo?” I asked with annoyance. My father also walked up the podium. “Agatha, late grandmother clearly states that you have to be married to run the company but now that you are unmarried don't even think about it.” “So it's like that huh,” My eyes were red and the only thing I felt right now was shame. My sister, Lucia had stolen the best part of my life which was Leo, and my parents were in support of it because of money and assets that came with my position. “I've always wanted to give you this,” Leo said distastefully and threw some papers in my face, and when I picked them up to glance at them, they were divorce papers. His portion of the papers had already been signed. More tears rolled down my cheeks and there was nothing else I could say than the following words. “You're going to regret this Leo, I promise.” *** At the bar, I stared down at the divorce papers in disbelief that my husband could actually be that cruel to me. I dunked down one pint of alcohol, feeling sad for myself. But when It dragged on for a bit I snapped myself out of the mindset of victimhood. This was my fate now and I had to take it as it was. I signed my portion on the papers… And officially, I was divorced. “More alcohol,” I called out to the server as the bottle in front of me became void of alcohol. The server came to me with one more bottle and poured me a shot which I hurriedly dunked down, then I proceeded to pour myself another shot of alcohol which completely numbed me out of my feelings. I laughed out loud to myself. “My husband, the man that I loved! And Lucia, my sweet elder sister! How could it be?” I was lucid in my thoughts that when I saw a man step into the bar, my next thoughts became violatile. I needed to sleep with him, not because I had a high libido but because I wanted to do the same thing my ex-husband had done to me. For him to toss me out of his life like I didn't matter, I also, could do the same to him. I could move on like he didn't matter too! So— I paid attention to the man that just walked in with a slicked back hair, green eyes, beautiful lips and eerie fair skin. He was my pick. I took down one more shot and walked over to where he choosed to sit. “Mind me sitting here?” The moment I asked that question, he looked up at me for the first time. He was about to answer the question when I sat down on the chair in front of me. He seemed troubled by my arrival but that didn't matter to me. I had found the person I would spend the night with. *** “Ohhh yeah…” That night, there was a lot of groaning and moaning between two bodies. The heat and passion of the night had been completely on a new level that I had no time to think about the embarrassment I faced during my sister's wedding.
