The sounds of boisterous laughter and a bad step of the horse beneath her woke Kara from unconsciousness. Her body dangled over the side of a dark brown steed. She struggled to stay awake, still exhausted, and delirious from her encounter with Morlana. She could make out the fuzzy images of trees passing her by and could hear the subtle crunch of leaves beneath the horse’s metal shoed hooves. She managed to lift her heavy head and caught a hazy glimpse of a massive structure in the distance. The castle of Belakesh was mammoth in scale, much larger than Loxx’s. The thick stone walls appeared impenetrable. Four towers protruded high into the sky from each corner of the gargantuan fortress. T
