Kara stood and faced Dain. “Look, Dain. You’re very handsome, and I like you a lot, but it was a spur of the moment thing.”
Dain nervously lowered his head. “So…you didn’t want to kiss me?”
“It’s not that I didn’t want to, Dain. It’s just…I don’t know. It’s hard to explain.”
“You’re scared, aren’t you? Scared of letting me close and losing me like your parents?”
Kara faltered for a moment, startled by Dain’s rash statement.
“Just leave it, Dain. It was a moment of weakness. I was…confused. It won’t happen again.”
