DANTE's POV She was annoyingly beautiful as she slept and as I watched her and admired the rise and fall of her chest and the way she seemed so peaceful. She had a small smile on her face like she was having the most perfect dream, one where I wasn’t there forcing her into a marriage she did not want. I could not sleep, of course but I had pretended to and I had heard her apologize in the dark. No doubt she had thought she had hurt me with her words but that was far from the truth. She was right; there was no one who would love me, not even my mother did when she decided the best thing to do was to take her own life just so she could be away from my father forever. Theirs was never a marriage of love from what my brother and I could see growing up and when the doctors had confirmed
